🌟 NDEAM Spotlight: Teamwork on I-75! 🌟

Meet Teresa, Jessie, Amanda, Jamie, Billy, and Emma, all members of RT’s Group Employment Support (GES) mobile work crew! 💙💚

This hardworking team helps keep the I-75 Northbound Rest Area clean, welcoming, and ready for the many travelers who stop throughout the day. On this particular day, the crew was hard at work picking up litter throughout the parking lot and grounds. 🧹

Their responsibilities don't stop outside! The mobile work crew helps maintain the rest area by cleaning and mopping inside the building, keeping the grounds and parking areas free of litter, and making sure visitors have a clean and welcoming place to take a break during their travels.

And part of being in a community workplace is interacting with the people around you! Crew members also have opportunities to greet travelers who stop to see the beautiful rest area, stretch their legs, and relax before continuing their drive. 🚗

Through Group Employment Support, employees work together while strengthening skills such as teamwork, responsibility, communication, following instructions, and completing job duties safely and efficiently.

During National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), we're proud to recognize employees like Teresa, Jessie, Amanda, Jamie, Billy, and Emma who show up, work hard, and provide an important service to our community and its visitors.

♻️🌟 NDEAM Spotlight: Tim & Nathan 🌟♻️

During National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), we’re celebrating employees who put their skills to work while providing valuable services throughout our community!

Meet Tim and Nathan! 💙💚

Every Monday, Tim and Nathan work together on RT Industries’ recycling crew through Group Employment Support (GES). Their route takes them to local businesses, where they are responsible for checking recycling bins, collecting the filled bins, and replacing them with empty ones.

It takes more than moving recycling from one place to another! Tim and Nathan must work as a team, follow their route, stay organized, complete each stop, and make sure the job gets done correctly. ♻️

Their work provides an important service to our local business partners while giving Tim and Nathan the opportunity to use and strengthen valuable employment skills in a community setting.

NDEAM is about recognizing the skills, talents, and contributions people with disabilities bring to the workforce. Through Group Employment Support, employees like Tim and Nathan have opportunities to work, earn a paycheck, contribute to their community, and experience the value of meaningful employment.

🌟 NDEAM Spotlight: Devin & Marissa 🌟

During National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), we’re celebrating all the ways people can build skills that prepare them for success in the workplace, including through meaningful volunteer experiences in our community! 💼

Devin and Marissa recently volunteered at Have A Gay Day, where they helped package bags of food items for distribution. 🛍️

With plenty of bulk items to sort and package, they worked together to keep everything organized, neatly stacked, and ready to go. Along the way, Devin and Marissa practiced skills that transfer directly into the workplace, including teamwork, organization, following directions, attention to detail, and completing tasks efficiently.

Volunteer opportunities provide more than a chance to give back. They can also help individuals discover their strengths, practice new skills, build confidence, and gain experiences that can support future employment goals.

For NDEAM, we celebrate every opportunity to learn, grow, contribute, and prepare for what comes next. 💙💚

🌟 NDEAM Student Spotlight: Sam 🌟

During National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), we’re celebrating not only those who are employed today, but also the students who are building the skills that can lead to meaningful employment tomorrow! 💼

Meet Sam!

Sam is a student participating in the Upper Valley Career Center Launch program, with RT providing employment services and support as he gains valuable hands-on work experience in the community.

Sam has been hard at work assisting Medical Records at VanCrest, where he is organizing old file folders and preparing them for storage. His responsibilities include keeping files together, carefully boxing them, and making sure the job is completed correctly.

It may look like organizing files, but Sam is practicing skills that matter in every workplace: organization, attention to detail, following directions, responsibility, and completing a task from start to finish. 🌟

This is an important part of what NDEAM represents to us at RT. We are creating opportunities for young people to discover their abilities, develop employment skills, and begin envisioning what their future in the workforce can look like.

🌟 NDEAM Student Spotlight: Kassie 🌟

During National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), we’re celebrating students who are gaining hands-on experience, discovering their strengths, and building skills that can prepare them for future employment! 💼

Meet Kassie!

Kassie is a student participating in the Upper Valley Career Center Launch program, with RT providing employment services and support as she gains valuable experience in community workplaces.

Kassie has been hard at work at El Sombrero Mexican Restaurant, where she is learning to roll and band silverware for the restaurant. 🌮🍴

A task like rolling silverware may seem simple, but it provides an opportunity to practice so many important workplace skills such as fine motor skills, attention to detail, following directions, consistency, focus, and completing a task from start to finish.

These hands-on experiences are an important part of helping students explore different work environments, learn what they enjoy, discover their abilities, and build confidence for their future.

And opportunities like this wouldn't be possible without businesses willing to open their doors to students. Thank you to El Sombrero for being a community partner and providing meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities for our Launch interns! 💙💚

🌟 NDEAM Job Seeker Spotlight: Makayla 🌟

During National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), we’re not only celebrating people who are currently employed, we’re also celebrating those taking important steps toward reaching their employment goals!

Meet Makayla! 💼🔎

Makayla is currently participating in Job Search Assistance (JSA) through Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD). She is exploring different ways to find employment opportunities while building the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to navigate her job search.

In this photo, Makayla is pointing out a job posting on the bulletin board at her local library. Community job boards are just one of the many resources she is learning to use to identify opportunities and connect with potential employers.

Makayla has a goal: to work as a dining room or cafeteria attendant. 🍽️ She continues to work toward finding a position that matches her interests, strengths, and employment goals.

At RT, we know that the path to employment looks different for everyone. Sometimes success is landing the job and sometimes it’s learning how to search, completing an application, preparing for an interview, or discovering the type of work that is right for you.

Every step forward matters. 💙💚

🕷️🕸️ Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man needs YOUR vote! 🕸️🕷️

🦸‍♂️ RT Industries is swinging into the Fall Farm Fest THIS WEEKEND, and our Community Engagement Department has done it AGAIN!

This year's scarecrow entry is bringing a little superhero action to the festival, complete with Spider-Man, a city skyline, and our very own RT signal lighting up the sky! 🔴🔵

🎃 The best part? Fall Farm Fest is FREE! Bring the whole family out for some fall fun at Lost Creek Reserve with the Miami County Park District, check out all the creative scarecrow displays, and help us keep our winning streak alive!

🏆 Look for scarecrow #14 and cast your vote for RT Industries!

Our Community Engagement team has put their creativity and hard work into this one, and we'd love your support!
