π Seasonal Shifts: Making Space to Slow Down π
As I look out over the field that just a few weeks ago was a dense green expanse of tasseled-top corn, I now see a harvested landscape of golden-brown remnants, offering a feast for the geese and deer. I can feel it β Fall has arrived.
With the change of seasons comes an invitation to notice the shifts happening both around us and within us. We pull out our sweatshirts, trade sandals for sneakers, nourish ourselves with vegetables harvested from the earth, and adjust our routines to the shorter daylight hours.
Here in our part of the world, we are moving into the Yin season β a natural turning toward quieter energy, reflection, and restoration. Nature moves through these cycles without rushing or resisting, and we are nature, too. πΎ
When we begin to align our practices with the seasons, we create space to transition more gently rather than push through change or hold on to what has passed. In a world that so often moves quickly and without pause, this is an opportunity to slow down, listen, and respond to what we need.
β¨ A few questions to sit with this season:
π What does this seasonal shift mean to you?
π How do you sense the completion of summer?
π How are you preparing for the months ahead?
π What is your body asking of you right now?
These are some of the inquiries we'll explore in classes this month and in a special offering at the end of October:
