🏃‍♀️Keeping my teen athletes fueled on big days is similar to my strategy for fueling my long days in the mountains.

I shoot for 50 to 90 g of carbs per hour when play is back to back

I find the higher range fuels better performance

It might take time, but you can definitely train your gut to take a lot of carbs. I find it takes deliberate effort to get enough

I think “simple and easy to digest carbs” (literally the opposite of my everyday midlife (fat/fiber/protein 😜)

A lot of these tournaments we are flying to so it has to be something that’s doable from a grocery store and from the trunk of a rental car

I usually make little snack bags for my kids and have them choose two items per hour

We aren’t perfect but we make the effort

And no, I’m not worried about sugar on high-performance days. Muscles will eat that up

My teen kids like choices and they like to make them themselves, but I think they appreciate the structure

Here are some examples of choices that are roughly around 25g carbs each (they pick 2 per hour on long days)-

Bag of pretzels
20 ounce Gatorade or other sports drink
Coconut water
Bag of Grapes
2 packs of gummies
Stinger gummies or other sport gummy
Apple sauce packet
Banana
Rice crispy treat

😴 Sleep is everything and I’m not messing around when I travel this summer

I step things up when I’m on the road to make sure I get good sleep

Sleep has been a perimenopause challenge for me, traveling makes it harder

I have crazy travel for the next 8 weeks and I need to sleep well

I wrote a blog about exactly what I pack to make sure I sleep soundly when I’m living out of a bag

Does anyone else struggle with sleep in perimenopause or menopause??

🌀Midlife gets a whole lot less overwhelming and confusing when you finally understand how your body works.

Hormones don’t exist in isolation.

They interact with your gut, immune system, nervous system, brain, inflammation, stress response, detoxification pathways, microbiome, and more.

There are a lot of opportunities to impact how we feel in midlife

And sometimes simply understanding WHY something is happening — like histamine symptoms suddenly showing up in perimenopause — can feel deeply validating.

🌀 My life’s work is helping women move from confusion and symptom chasing → to clarity, confidence, and connection with their body……

So we can feel and age our best!

Not through rigid protocols or one-size-fits-all answers.

🌀But through a clear framework that helps you honor both the complexity AND bioindividuality of midlife health without feeling overwhelmed.

🌀Favorite Everday Mocktail Recipe
Ice
Soda water
Lime juice from 3-4 limes (lots!!)
2-4 mint leaves
Lime wedges for sexy vibe

Squeeze lime juice into glass, add mint leaves, put in ice cubes, muddle, add soda water, add lime wedges for ascetics 🍋‍🟩
Option- add salt rim! Ymmmm

🌀 Your gut needs attention in midlife

🌿 And here’s the recipe for my favorite Spring Green Goddess Dressing 🌿

• 1/3 cup fresh parsley
• 1/3 cup fresh basil
• 2 green onions
• Juice of 1 1/2 lemons
• 2 cloves garlic
• 1/3 cup olive oil
• 1/3 cup cashews
• 1/3 cup water
• Sea salt + black pepper to taste

Blend until smooth and creamy. I love this on a huge colorful salad with seeds and garbanzo beans. Or dip in veggies midday for a boost

I freaking LOVE helping women understand their bodies, connect the dots, and take agency in how they feel in midlife.
