She has done the bloodwork. She has done the sleep. She has tried the supplements, the early bedtimes, the cutting back.
And she is still exhausted in a way that a good night's sleep does not fix.
Here is what most approaches miss: chronic fatigue in midlife is rarely one thing. It is almost always three things, running at the same time, feeding each other.
First, the nervous system. When the body has been under pressure for years, it burns most of its available fuel just maintaining a state of alert. There is almost nothing left for daily living.
Second, the hormones that used to soften the stress response quietly decline in your 40s. According to the North American Menopause Society, progesterone (your calming, protective hormone) begins dropping years before most women notice any other change. The buffer is gone.
Third, the cells themselves slow their energy output. Not because something is broken. Because a body in long-term survival mode stops spending fuel on repair.
Treat one layer and you get partial relief. Treat all three and you get your life back.
This is the work I do with women every day. ๐
