💙💛 Wednesday Community Resource: Could Your Home Qualify for Rebates?

Did you know Georgia has a Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR) program designed to help eligible households save money when making certain energy-efficient upgrades?

Depending on your household income and the project, rebates may help with upgrades such as:

🏡 Heat pump systems
💧 Heat pump water heaters
🍳 Electric/induction cooking appliances
👕 Heat pump clothes dryers
⚡ Electrical panel and wiring upgrades
🌬️ Insulation, air sealing & ventilation

Eligible households may qualify for up to $14,000 in total rebates, with the amount depending on household income, the project, and program requirements. The state currently indicates households below 80% of Area Median Income may qualify for up to 100% of eligible project costs, while households at 80%–150% AMI may qualify for up to 50%.

And here’s something many people may not realize: homeowners AND tenants may be able to participate, including through a DIY pathway for certain eligible appliances.

💡 Before purchasing anything, check the current program requirements and approved-contractor rules. Not every appliance or upgrade qualifies, and Georgia requires documentation such as proof of purchase, installation and income.
