Serving Community 🌵

To be completely honest,
Last year when I moved from CT to AZ I was disheartened with the idea of rebuilding a community that was ready to be served.

I got a bit pretentious...
"Didn't I just spend 6 years doing this?"

By "this", I mean teaching hundred of hours of public yoga classes, curating unique offerings, developing rapport and relationship with folks who trusted the guidance I could offer, endless promotion, newsletters, networking events.

I had gotten to the phase where I could put out an event and folks would just show up. It felt reciprocal and supportive.

And by moving 2500+ miles, I fed myself the story that I was having to start over...

I was a new face in a new sea... I had to "prove" myself once again.

Not only did that lead to a fervor of resistance, I also felt entitled to something.

I centered my ego around my work.

I'm not exactly sure what shifted in the last week or so, but I had the realization:

I don't have to do this... I GET to do this.

It's within my natural gifts to bring folks together, to commune, pollinate, expand...

I get to do this and it gets to be fun!!

It's truly exciting to be meeting kindred souls, both in person + online.

And the best part? Me + the new folks I'm meeting have several mutual friends in common.

Spirit has shown the magick of the interwoven web...

Turns out it's a small world when you realize who you vibe with, and what you're here to do.

Cheers to the service centered folks here who continue to show up for sacred service + community care!

It's a beautiful ride and I'm here for the long run 🐝

S H A P E S H I F T E R S

Shapeshifters is an exploration + embodiment practice dancing with the 4 elements: Earth, Air, Water, Fire.

I am holding this series because I have recently found myself falling out of love with life- getting caught in the daily tasks, focusing on lack and losing sight of the gift that it is to be alive. Shapeshifters is a personal practice for myself as well as an invitation to share the practices and wisdom that have continually brought more joy and aliveness into my life.

Each session will last 2 hours. The first hour is devoted to theme discussion, yogic movement and meditation. The second hour I will guide you through a journal prompt, simple ritual and group sharing practices.

I have facilitated yoga classes, sacred circles and trainings for over 5 years. I am passionate about women's work, community care and wholistic health. I do not worship any deity or specific religion- my core values and philosophies are guided by the natural world.

This is an invitation to all genders and folks who are interested in yoga, nature, ritual and conscious community. You need no experience, only to come with an open mind + heart.

May 7 2021 my family's feet touched down in Tucson to begin a life in the southwest.

Of course we would miss our friends and family in New England, but we were being pulled toward a vision that was beyond our logic. Truly, it was as though we were mysteriously magnetized to the Sonoran desert where every puzzle piece had fallen into place...

Our vision was one of community, finding our Village. We wanted our son to feel held by many heart + hands. Mostly, we didn't want to do this life thing alone.

Not only did we find our Village, but we built it. One of my gifts is bringing folks together into conscious spaces, and our prayers were quickly answered.

We started with a full moon gathering in our home, which sparked the beginning of several soul deep relationships...

And has resulted in many different gatherings, from the everyday acts of meal sharing, exchanging childcare, house cleaning... to the joyous desert adventures, song circles, family camping trips, dance parties, nakie swims, nurturing one another when ill in either body, mind or spirit...

Making our way today where we belong to a homeschool co-op of conscious Mamas and Starseed Kiddos...

And organizing my first Mamas Retreat alongside my soul sisters... MotherLove we called it, and it took place this weekend on *ding ding ding* May 7 (our one year Tucson anniversary).

It has been a serious initiation into Desert Life, but I am feeling a level of peace and balance that I haven't felt in a reaaally long time, if ever...

I feel the Saguaro Spirits, Mountain Magick and Earth Medicine working on me in big ways out here, and we're only getting started 🌵✨

This week, an amazing group of mothers and I began the journey of a self led homeschool: The Starseeds Garden Community Co-op 🌟

I imagined this form of unlearning, natural connection and tight knit clan for my child, but what I soon realized is that this community is also for me...

When I am in a Village of like-minded and conscious women, I strive to show up as my best.

My son and I are held in a space of acceptance and non-reactivity, qualities of the Radiant Mother our physical children (and our own inner children) greatly long for.

The cooperation of co-parenting aka sharing the load allows us to step back and nourish.

And we are all in practice of learning and growing together, which is slowly working on me in powerful ways as I remember that I do not have all the answers, or the best methods, and that it is safe to receive.

We are blooming together 🌼

This co-op is an extension of the Village that is unfolding before my eyes and I celebrate being a part of this community and everything along our path that has led to this ❤

Last night during a Birth Vision Session a pregnant Mama and I talked about what support during this time would look like for her.

She said she has many people who want to gift her baby gear and clothing, but that's not what she truly needs or wants.

She also expressed how a lot of unsolicited advice came her way.

I completely agree and understand.

Most if the time it's out of goodness to want to dote on the baby or tell Mama everything she should "make sure" about xyz...

But it ain't helpful.

It actually causes skepticism and fear in the Mother's instinctual knowing, which can interfere with a smooth labor process and mental health!

Mothers need positive birth stories and unconditional support.

Instead of "let me help you this way",
Ask "how may I support you?"

Or better yet, team up with Mama and/or her support person to create a postpartum support plan for how she'd like to be nourished.

Things to consider...
Who's going to cook her meals?
When will Mama take a shower?
How many visits per week does the family desire?
Does the dishwasher need to be loaded, or the laundry folded?

Mothers need affirmation and genuine, physical support.

Not unsolicited advice.

Mama Support Circles 🌹

The first support circle begins this Monday, Feb 7!

What is a support circle?

These are low key meetings that will begin with a grounding tool and discussion topic.

You can share whatever is on your heart, listen to other stories and meet like minded Mamas.

This is a safe space to share vulnerable parts of our journey. You will be held with respect and dignity.

These are free circles designed to foster community connection and tangible support.

Virtual circles take place biweekly on Mondays 6pm MST via zoom.

In person circles take place biweekly on Fridays 11am MST in Tucson.

We desire to keep the support circles off of social media platforms as much as possible, so all communications will take place in email and a group messenger.
