Ground–figure reversal 🐘
One of my favorite visual tricks in art is when the figure and the background trade places. Your brain sees one image first, then suddenly the negative space becomes another.
In this elephant tattoo, the design plays with that idea—using positive and negative space so your eye has to decide what’s the subject and what’s the background.
It’s an old-school principle of visual perception, but it works incredibly well in tattooing.
