ce in their lives. United Cerebral Palsy of Southern Arizona (UCPSA), founded in 1952 and a charter affiliate since 1962, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing services and support to individuals with cerebral palsy and other disabilities. The mission of UCPSA is to advance the independence, productivity, and full citizenship of people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities. UCPSA is a consumer driven agency that promotes inclusion of people with disabilities in the organization’s structure. The agency has a long-term commitment in the community with a positive name recognition and reputation throughout southern Arizona. The administrative office is equipped with accessible computers and modern assistive technology, enabling disabled and nondisabled staff to work effectively and efficiently. UCPSA has a successful history of media outreach by means of press, radio, and TV as a result of its fund development department. The organization is comprised of an administrative staff that oversees 130 direct care staff, and the agency serves over 150 consumers. Of the consumers we serve approximately 30% have Cerebral Palsy, and 70% have some other form of disability. UCPSA also provides community outreach and information and referral to families and consumers throughout southern Arizona. Periodically, throughout the year, the consumers we work with and our staff and Board of Directors participate in quality assurance reviews to determine the agency's effectiveness in meeting individual and community needs. UCPSA received its first state contract to provide attendant care and respite services with the state Division of Developmental Disabilities beginning in January of 1996. The agency has grown progressively in size and revenue since then. UCPSA has expanded its staff to administrative staff of 85 with over 850 direct care staff and an annual budget of $20 million. In addition to having a large direct care service constituency, UCPSA also has an active board of directors, volunteer committees and a successful fund development component that supplements the services to our consumers. Accessibility of site and programs:
UCPSA is actively involved in facilitating voluntary compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Nationally, UCPA offers grant/project management and legislative updates to its affiliates. UCPSA supports the goal of full inclusion of individuals with disabilities into every aspect of life and area of society, including the home, school, workforce and the community, regardless of severity of disability, as enumerated in the ADA. All UCPSA buildings are fully accessible and the agency provides accommodations to all those who require them. UCPSA is committed to investing the time and resources necessary to enable a more inclusive society that recognizes and embraces the talents of all individuals. UCPSA strives to continually improve and build on our programs and services. Services include: Attendant Care, Respite, Habilitation, Housekeeping, and Employment Services. With the continued support of generous donors, our fine staff and appreciated volunteers, we will continue to be able to help people get closer to living a life without limits.
