I steeped a batch of Creosote bush a few weeks and today was make-a-batch day.
It is found here in the desert southwest, and has a very unique kinda smoky scent that I personally love. The smell really releases more when it rains here.

Larrea Tridentata.

Creosote is medicinal and this salve helps with skin irritations, rashes, eczema, scrapes, scratches, and similar.
I’m in the garden daily and I always need some skin soothers because I touch and work with all the plants and cacti, lots of pokey stuff and fine hair-like fuzzy things in the air—and sometimes get on skin.

So waaala!
Creosote Healing Salve.
Take care of yourself. Listen to your body.

This is Cresote bush, also known as Chaparral.
Larrea Tridentata.
I just love the smell of it. I didn't get it when we first moved here in 1999.
I planted a start of it years ago but it didn't last. And I didn't know what it was, other than it smells strong when the rains come in summer, monsoon.
I'm going to try to plant another, but in the meantime it's all over the desert and I can harvest some branches, and look what I have steeping....I'm going to make a salve, it is known to help all kinds of skin irritations. This one is ready to pour and sift out the leaves.
Long live CREOSOTE. You know you are in the desert when you smell this.

I haven’t made my crème recipe in a long time, but it was time because we are so dry right now here in the desert. This batch turned out heavenly.

Beautiful ChasteBerry Vitex Tree in full bloom.
This botanical tree essence can be made into a tincture and has been used for hormonal balance with women.
We planted this tree 2 1/2 years ago and I love it.

I’m experimenting with TALLOW.
It’s a first.
I’ve worked with lots of plant oils, butters, botanicals and ingredients; made them into cremes, salves, balms, butters.
Getting it to be non grainy is tricky.
But I’m working with it. It’s a texture thing.
It’s a heavenly and silky emollient ingredient that is so healing…Janice 5-5-26

ROSES! They are blooming in our garden like crazy….loving this weather of warm days and cold nights…perfect growing weather…they are sooooo aromatic !!! I’m picking bouquets of them…..7 bloomed in ONE DAY!
Roses grow so well out here in our desert climate as long as you make sure they are on drip irrigation, feed them good food, and watch them take off. They bloom spring and fall mostly……we have dry weather so no issues with bugs or mold. I was so surprised to know how well they grew here, so I didn’t get the hang of it until I dedicated myself to the water and food sources they need. I also planted some David Austin’s. And I trimmed them up after the hot summer and they just are loving this weather. Rain in the forecast are going to make them pop again….hope for the rain! So badly needed out here….Janice

Fresh Herbal bouquets I make from our desert garden. I grow rosemary, eucalyptus, sages, acacia, and more. I just walk around and see what’s looking good and cut away.
