Public Health in action in our community!

The Pima County Department of Environmental Quality (PDEQ), in collaboration with faculty from the college, recently launched a network to monitor air quality at several schools in the county. The air quality sensor network generates data that is published on an online dashboard.

The county recently announced an air monitoring high school curriculum that it created to empower students to use the data dashboard to track environmental air quality conditions. The project was funded by an EPA grant project called Expanding Air Quality Monitoring at Pima County Schools to Address Environmental Justice.

Recovery Month is organized by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

Our faculty work on a range research and programs in Arizona that address the public health challenge of addiction and substance use.

Our college offers the Undergraduate Minor in Addiction and Substance Use to train students to support those struggling with addiction. Creative Arts for Lowering Mental Stress (CALM) provides a series of in-person workshops that include healing dance, meditative drawing, Tai Chi, and singing bowl mediation. All are welcomed!
