Over the course of my professional life, night time snacking is the number one pitfall many Americans stumble over. You are active and highly aware of "good" nutrition throughout the day but when the sun goes down, you lose your sense of control. Try this for one week and see if this helps those night time munchies: Eat a low carbohydrate, high protein breakfast. Low carbohydrate, high protein, for example, would be maybe 15-30 grams of carb, equivalent to 2 cups of cooked vegetables, 1/2 cup low fat cottage cheese, and 2 eggs. On the go: 1 cup of fat free plain Greek yogurt, 5-8 raw almonds, and one hard boiled egg.

Are you really good at controlling your diet all day long but can't stop eating from dinner to bedtime? It may not be a question of willpower but poor planning. According to a new study, eating a really high protein breakfast can head off those evenings munchies.

According to the CDC, an alarming 8.3% of the American population have diabetes. This is approximately 105 million people! Diabetes has numerous long-term health complications that affect every system in your body including cardiovascular, eye, kidney, nerve and gastrointestinal as well as your emotional and psychological well-being. Donna the Dietitian's Favorite "go to" meal: 2 cups various vegetables, lightly steamed, (1 tsp extra virgin olive oil/1 Tbl vinegar added after steaming), 1/2 cup lightly steamed sweet potato, freshly-picked basal and 2 scrambled eggs: 290 calories, 25 grams carbohydrate, 8 grams fiber, 15 grams protein, 3 grams saturated fat, 9 grams monounsaturated fat, 1.5 grams polyunsaturated fat and oodles of antioxidants!

I sure hope so! This woman has helped contribute to a decade of obesity, heart disease and Type 2 Diabetes. Professionally speaking, her behavior is deplorable! She deceived all of us for three years prior to confessing to the American public that she had diabetes. Today, she continues to present recipes that are gorged with heart-choking saturated fat and calories that even an highly-trained endurance athlete would have a hard time burning off! I challenge Paula Dean to present to her loyal followers recipes that promote health rather than harm health!!!!!
