Today is my birthday.🌻 I turn 48 on this warm and balmy June day. Just the way I like it. I’m going to try to spend it much like I have been this past year… by grounding into some of my favorite practices that give me pause.

One of my favorite things to do is to walk around the garden collecting ingredients to make myself a special tea. 🌱

It’s been a year of so much change. A few bangers that have reminded me that the human spirit is resilient and that it’s always a damn good idea to create beauty when and where we can.

My birthday reminds me that there is so much wisdom in living in the moment and around slowing down to really savor each and every one. I’m not here to pretend I haven’t been feeling into the stress of settling in (again), with the grief over losing our beloved 🐕 companion, and with the ups and downs of Perimenopause. But ~ what I have learned ~ is that I’m all about letting all these feelings coexist and this has felt really healthy for me these days. ♥️

As I get older, I notice how important this is because so often the most extraordinary moments are the ordinary ones that we fully allow ~ and even trust ourselves to experience. Especially when grieving. And growing.

For me, living in the moment isn’t about doing more things or packing in a schedule like it might have been in previous years, now it’s about noticing more. 🤎

These days, I find I am happiest outside, moving my body, taking long walks, and just soaking up every little freakin bitty bit bit of sun and moon.

The warm seasons have arrived and they are here to teach me things. Each day is precious.

Cheers to another trip around the sun.

Here’s to embracing what lies ahead with an open heart, staying rooted in what matters most, and finding joy in the everyday moments that make life so rich.

The sun rises, the seasons change, and the wild journey continues.

all my love,
Rachel 🧑🏻‍🌾

Anyone else enjoy putting their home to bed each night?

I find this ritualistic practice of slowly walking around, room to room, putting things back in their place from the day to be so comforting. I nudge this little thing over to the left and then scoot this other little thing over to the right, taking energetic inventory of the years of collected treasures that bring me peace.

I take a few extra moments to do the final dishes, clear off the countertops, blow out the candles, clean the incense burners, close the curtains, turn off all the evening mood lighting, prepare my morning nook, make my tea to take upstairs to bed, and so on.

In the morning, I find the ritual of waking the house back up again just as special. Just as peaceful.

For me, finding the joy in relationship with even the most mundane daily tasks makes me feel grounded and alive. There is so much beauty and devotion to be discovered within these small moments of time.

Is this something you also enjoy doing or am I just a little overly particular? 😂

Kitchen renovations are still underway, taking it slow and steady. I turned the corner last night and saw it glowing in the distance and it brought all this up for me.

In Ayurveda, understanding your dosha is like learning the language of your own nature. 🌿

We each carry a unique blend of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, the energies that shape how we move through the world, digest food, handle stress, sleep, and feel in our bodies and in our minds.

When we understand our doshas and the effects these energies have on us, we can begin to support ourselves more intentionally:

🌾 Vata often craves grounding, warmth, and nourishing herbs to calm the nervous system and settle scattered energy.

🔥 Pitta often benefits from cooling, soothing herbs that help soften the intensity and bring balance to internal heat.

🌧️ Kapha tends to thrive with warming, stimulating herbs that awaken movement and help clear sluggishness and stagnation.

Herbs become even more powerful when we choose them in harmony with our constitution and the season we’re in.

One thing we can always sure about is that Nature is constantly offering us support, we simply just need to learn how to listen. 🫶🏽🌿

The beauty of this path is that balance doesn’t come from perfection, in fact it talks a lot about letting go, loosening up, finding our center, living in the heart, and finding deep connection so that we may understand what our body is asking for and then know how to nurture it. ✨

What’s your Dosha? My primary Dosha is Vata… go figure. 😉
