Where you get your information MATTERS. A stranger on the internet can’t diagnose your pelvic floor issues, but we can!

🌱We will always advocate for your whole body health, and do our due diligence to get your whole body back on track.

📣This means we think diagnosing your pelvic floor problems will be most accurate with an internal pelvic exam. Different problems present the same issues, but require different fixes. Let’s not waste our time by making an issue worse because we don’t have the right information.

📣Yup. Kids can come to pelvic floor pt for bed wetting. We truly believe there are physiological reasons behind this, and we can help get you dry nights in your near future.

📣Always shouting “common is NOT normal”. Just because your mom and grandma accepted peeing their pants after having babies doesn’t mean you have to, too.

📣KEGELS. While they’re a tool in our tool box….they are far from the only one. And yes, kegels can actually make your symptoms worse if that’s not what your body needs. If your pelvic floor is already tight, doing an exercise (kegels) with those muscles is just going to make the problem worse.

📣Last but not least. Surgery truly isn’t the easy way out. There is still healing that needs to happens and rehab that needs to be done surrounding a surgery of any kind. Before jumping to surgery, give us a call and let’s chat about what PT could do for you.

🌟Give us a call at 918-265-4688, we’d love to get you on the schedule or chat with you about what pelvic floor pt looks like!

Prolapse….but make it cute?

Did you know 50% of women have a measurable prolapse a few months after birth? This is a very common experience— so let’s chat about it!

Pelvic organ prolapse is when your pelvic floor is having trouble holding up your pelvic organs and one (or more) descend into the vaginal canal.

So if you’ve ever experience that heavy “bowling ball” feeling, trouble controlling your bowels (keeping it in, or getting it out 😮‍💨), or pain with intimacy, pelvic floor pt can help you regain your pelvic floor control and begin to live your life without the stress, worry, and discomfort of prolapse.

And while we certainly don’t recommend surgery right out the gate, if you are a candidate for surgery, doing some pre-hab prior to surgery can lead to improvements and positively impact the outcome of your surgery!

If you’d like to learn how we can help you with your pelvic organ prolapse, give us a call at 918-265-4688. We would love to help you!

If the fear of the unknown if what is keeping you from booking a pelvic floor physical therapy appointment....this post is for you!

After recently listening to a podcast where a mom spoke about her surprise at the internal exam during the initial exam, she decided not to return to follow up appointments, and it made me wonder if she expected that was going to happen at each appointment, and even more so if she thought that WAS pelvic floor physical therapy.

TLDR: it’s not! Pelvic floor physical therapy includes multiple modes of therapy, including exercises, cupping, manual therapy, even education!

The initial visit does (typically) include an internal pelvic exam, with explicit verbal consent required from you before proceeding. It is also in a much more relaxed situation, with no cold medical equipment required. No swabs, bright lights in your eyes, scooching to the end of the bed, or feet up in stirrups.

This internal exam takes place to learn what problem is taking place. Tightness, weakness, strength imbalances, and poor coordination can all be culprits causing pelvic floor dysfunction.

Each of these root causes require a different approach to resolve the dysfunction.

Once the initial evaluation is complete, a personalized plan of care can be created just for you to treat the root cause of your dysfunction, not just your symptoms.

Tightness, weakness, and poor coordination can all be reasons your pelvic floor tends to open the floodgates at the wrong time. Or even a combination of these symptoms!

Each of these circumstances are treated differently, which may be why your efforts aren’t fixing the problem.

Here at Vitality, we determine the root cause of YOUR issues, then tailor a custom plan of action with you.
