Labor Day Weekend is calling!

Whatever your plans look like this weekend, a trip to the zoo, catching a movie, soaking up some lake time, cooling off at a splash pad, cheering from the sidelines, or simply enjoying a slower weekend at home, we hope you make time to rest from your labor.

Because taking care of yourself is important, too.
This weekend, remember to:
Enjoy some good, healthy food
Drink plenty of water
Get a little extra rest
Step outside and enjoy the Oklahoma sunshine
Spread a little gratitude wherever you go
And give yourself permission to slow down

Labor Day is a reminder that our work matters, but so does our rest.
From all of us at OU Health Physicians Tulsa, we hope your Labor Day weekend is filled with good people, good moments, and a little time to simply breathe.

Happy Labor Day Weekend, Tulsa!
Take care of yourself. You’ve earned the rest.

Sometimes the most important thing you can give your child is a conversation.
A new study from the University of Oklahoma is highlighting something every parent should know: "many parents may not know whether their child has vaped or what substances they may be va**ng."

Va**ng devices can be difficult to recognize and are designed to look like everyday items, making it harder for parents to know when something may be going on.

But here’s the bigger takeaway: Don’t wait until you have a reason to talk. Start the conversation before you need to.
Use this weekend or any ordinary day as an opportunity to check in with your kids.

Talk about:
Va**ng & ni****ne
Cannabis & other drugs
Relationships & s*x
Mental health & stress
Social media & peer pressure
Safety & risky situations
And anything your child or YOU may have questions about

You don't have to have all the answers. You don't have to make it a big, serious sit-down conversation.

Sometimes it starts with:
"Hey, can I ask you something?”
“Have you heard people at school talking about va**ng?”
“Is there anything you’ve been wondering about that you’re afraid to ask me?”
And most importantly, listen.

Our kids need to know they can come to us with the hard stuff, not because we will always have the perfect answer, but because they will never have to face it alone.

Back-to-school season looked cute on the calendar… and then reality happened. 😂

The early mornings.
The homework.
The forgotten water bottles.
The “I told you to put that in your backpack!”
The after-school activities.
And somehow… it’s already time to start thinking about dinner again. 😅
And let’s not forget the mystery cough or stomach bug that somehow makes its way home before the second week is over.

Whether your family is thriving, surviving, or somewhere in between, give yourself some grace. Getting back into a routine takes time!
And when your family needs us, OU Health Physicians is here to help keep everyone healthy and moving through the school year.
