We can’t keep talking about anxiety without talking about gut health too.

Your gut and brain are deeply connected through something called the gut-brain axis.

In fact, a huge percentage of serotonin is produced in the gut, not the brain.

So when the gut is inflamed, imbalanced, under stress, or struggling to absorb nutrients properly, it can affect so much more than digestion.

I see this all the time in women who say things like:

“I feel overstimulated all the time.”

“My body can never relax.”

“I’m anxious for no reason.”

And yes, stress absolutely impacts the gut too.

One of the biggest things I’ve learned in functional medicine is this:

Healing is about so much more than food and supplements.

You can be doing all the “right things” and still feel exhausted, inflamed, anxious, bloated, burned out, or disconnected from your body if your nervous system never gets a chance to feel safe.

Stress impacts everything: Gut health. Hormones. Sleep. Inflammation. Blood sugar. Energy. Detox pathways.

Your body isn’t broken. It may just be overwhelmed.

Sometimes healing looks like:
• Slowing down
• Getting outside
• Prioritizing rest
• Laughing more
• Supporting your nervous system
• Creating safety in your body again

The goal isn’t perfection. The goal is supporting your body in a way that helps it finally exhale.

Missed my “Is It My Thyroid?” workshop? 👀

A few things that shocked people during the training…

• You can have “normal” thyroid labs and STILL feel awful
• Most doctors only run TSH — not the full thyroid picture

Traveling doesn’t have to mean throwing all the towel out the window 👏🏻

One thing I always remind clients (and myself) is this: Healing is built in the everyday choices — not perfection.

Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised with the breakfast options at Embassy Suites this morning:
• Eggs for protein
• Sautéed veggies
• Bacon/sausage
• Fresh fruit options
• Even ways to build a balanced plate without feeling restricted

When you focus on protein, healthy fats, and blood sugar balance first… you can usually make something work almost anywhere.

Progress over perfection always. Sometimes it’s not about finding the “perfect” health food spot — it’s about making the best choice available and moving on without stress.

That mindset shift changes everything. 💜
