OMG! Such a fun morning!

I had the opportunity to sit down with DrTabatha
and talk all things toxic burden + detoxification — and I seriously could have talked about this for hours.

One of the biggest things I hope people take away from conversations like this is that supporting detoxification does NOT mean you need to live in a bubble, throw everything in your house away, or do some crazy cleanse.

Our bodies are designed to detox every single day.

But I like to think about our total toxic burden like a bucket.

Food, environmental exposures, hormones, gut health, stress, sleep, constipation… they can all add to that bucket.

And when we're constantly adding more than we're able to clear out, eventually that bucket can start to overflow.

That's where supporting the foundations really matters.

We talked about some simple, realistic ways to reduce what’s going IN while also supporting the body’s natural ability to get things OUT.

No perfection. No fear. Just practical ways to support your body better.

I can't wait to share the full conversation when it comes out!

In the meantime — what would you want to hear more about?

Reducing everyday toxin exposure OR supporting your body's detox pathways?

A friend texted me this today, and I have SO many questions…

One of her doctors noticed her TSH was elevated and told her to follow up with her primary care provider.

So she did.

Her P*P checked Free T3 and Free T4, told her everything looked good and she was fine.

But they didn't even recheck the abnormal TSH that prompted the follow-up in the first place.

Here's the thing:

One elevated TSH does NOT automatically mean hypothyroidism.

But it is information.

It's a check-engine light telling us, “Hey, we might want to look over here.”

I don't want to just know whether a couple of thyroid markers fall inside the reference range. I want to understand the pattern.

What is TSH doing?
What are Free T3 and Free T4 doing?
How about Reverse T3?
Are thyroid antibodies present?
How are iron and ferritin?
What about vitamin D and doc mzinc?
What's happening with blood sugar and insulin?
Are there other clues that could help us understand the bigger picture?

And most importantly — how does the person actually FEEL?

This is the gap I talk about all the time.

“Everything looks fine” shouldn't always be where the investigation ends.

Okay, now I REALLY want to hear from you:

What's the biggest piece of “but you're fine” hogwash you've ever been told about your health?

Drop it in the comments. I have a feeling we could make an entire series out of these.

If you’ve ever been told, “Your labs look normal,” while sitting there thinking, Okay… but I still don’t FEEL normal — you’re exactly who I want to find.

Hi! I’m Amy, a Functional Medicine Practitioner and Registered Dietitian, and I work with women who are tired, struggling with their weight, dealing with gut issues, hormone changes, thyroid symptoms, brain fog, or simply feeling like something is “off.”

I believe symptoms are often your body’s check engine light.

They’re clues.

And we shouldn’t have to wait until those clues turn into a diagnosable disease before we start asking WHY they’re happening.

That’s what we do differently in functional medicine. We look deeper at your labs, your symptoms, your history, your nutrition, your gut, your hormones, your stress and the whole picture to start connecting the dots.

If that sounds like the kind of health conversation you’ve been looking for, follow along. I think you’ll feel right at home here.

So many of my clients find me as a last resort.

They’ve spent years knowing something wasn’t right — fatigue, bloating, brain fog, hormone changes, poor sleep, weight changes — but they were told everything looked “normal.”

Here’s what I want you to know:

Dysfunction can start LONG before it becomes diagnosable disease.

Your symptoms are information. You don’t have to wait until you’re “sick enough” for a diagnosis to start asking why.

This isn’t about replacing conventional medicine. It’s about paying attention earlier and looking deeper.

If you’ve been told everything looks normal but you still don’t feel like yourself, message me START.

I’d love to talk about what your body may be trying to tell you.

Ever stand in front of the protein drink aisle wondering which one is actually worth buying?
Not all protein drinks are created equal.

If you're looking for a grab-and-go option, I highly recommend prioritizing:
• Higher protein (20-30g+)
• Lower sugar (but skip artificial sweeteners)
• Simple, recognizable ingredients
• Functional ingredients that support health

A protein drink will never replace a balanced meal, but it can be a great tool on busy days when you need something quick that helps stabilize blood sugar, supports muscle health, and keeps you satisfied longer.

Remember: convenience doesn't have to mean compromising your health.

Which protein drink is your favorite?

Just trying to show up and teach a little about food as medicine while we're off camping and making memories as a family.

I've intentionally been focused on rest, slowing down, and filling my own bucket this week, but this felt like a fun, natural way to bring you into my world.

It wasn't exactly quiet... 😂 In fact, this is probably the most realistic representation of what creating content as a functional medicine practitioner and mom of four actually looks like.

Progress over perfection, am I right? ❤️

Fill in the blank: You can hand someone the perfect protocol, but __________.

I'll go first: You can't out-supplement chronic stress.

What's your answer? 👇

Standing in White Sands today reminded me of something I tell my clients all the time:

You can hand someone the perfect protocol, but you can't out-supplement chronic stress.

😴 Sleep matters.
💙 Relationships matter.
🏃‍♀️Movement matters.
🌞 Sunlight matters.
😊 Joy matters.

Time away from the daily grind matters.

As a functional medicine practitioner, I spend a lot of time talking about labs, nutrition, lifestyle and supplements. Those things are important.

But sometimes the most powerful medicine isn't found in a bottle.

Sometimes it looks like slowing down.
Sometimes it looks like making memories with your family.
Sometimes it looks like getting outside and remembering that your body was designed to heal.

If you could prescribe yourself ONE thing this week, what would it be?

More sleep? More movement? More sunshine? More family time? Less stress?

Tell me below. 👇

Have you ever been told... "Your labs look normal." 🖐

But you're exhausted. You're gaining weight despite doing all the "right" things. You have brain fog. Your hair is thinning. Your digestion is off. Your anxiety feels higher than normal. And deep down, you know something isn't right.

One of the biggest differences between conventional medicine and functional medicine is how we look at lab work.

Conventional medicine is often focused on identifying disease.

Functional medicine is focused on identifying dysfunction before it becomes disease.
That means we don't just ask, "Is this lab within range?"

We ask:
• Is it optimal?
• Does it match your symptoms?
• What trends are we seeing over time?
• What is your body trying to tell us?

Your symptoms are not random.

They're often your body's version of a check engine light.

I've worked with so many women who were told everything was "fine" only to discover underlying thyroid dysfunction, nutrient deficiencies, blood sugar imbalances, hormone shifts, gut issues, chronic stress patterns, or inflammation that had been brewing for years.

If you've been feeling dismissed, frustrated, or stuck, know that you're not crazy and you're not imagining your symptoms.

Sometimes you just need a different lens.

Have you ever been told your labs were normal, but you still knew something wasn't right? Tell me below 👇

If you'd like help connecting the dots, I'd love to support you.

One of the biggest mistakes I see is people trying to heal while their nervous system never gets a chance to slow down.

We're researching.
We're worrying.
We're taking care of everyone else.
We're trying to optimize every aspect of our health.

And all the while, our body is getting the message that we're under constant stress.

A body stuck in fight-or-flight has a much harder time healing.

Today, that looked like a hike at Turkey Mountain.

No podcast.
No scrolling.
No multitasking.

Just sunshine, movement, fresh air, and a reminder that some of the most powerful healing tools don't come in a bottle.

Supplements have their place.

But don't forget the foundations.

What is one thing that helps your nervous system slow down and feel safe? I'd love to hear it below.

Your gut is a garden. 🌱

Some bacteria are flowers. Some are weeds.
And here's where a lot of people get stuck...

You can't grow a thriving garden by throwing more flowers into a patch of weeds.
That's why a name-brand probiotic isn't always the answer.

Sometimes we need to nourish the flowers. Sometimes we need to pull weeds. Most of the time, we need to figure out which is actually happening in YOUR garden.

That's where symptoms, health history, and functional testing can be so helpful. Stool testing often gives us a peek beneath the surface so we can stop guessing and start building a plan based on data.

If you're dealing with: • Bloating • Fatigue • Brain fog • Hormone issues • Skin problems • Constipation or diarrhea

It may be time to look at what's growing beneath the surface.

Comment GUT GARDEN and I'll share one of my favorite places to start. 🌸
