Exam Specialists had the honor of being part of the DVICA Annual Golf Classic - Thrilla In The Vineyards at Wente Vineyards in recognition of Memorial Day. It was a meaningful day spent connecting with professionals across the industry while also taking time to reflect on the significance of Memorial Day and those who have served our country.

The event brought together both applicant and defense professionals for a day centered around community, connection, and support for veterans. It was great seeing familiar faces and meeting new people outside of the usual work setting.

We are grateful to DVICA for organizing such a thoughtful event and appreciate the opportunity to support a cause that honors those who have served.

SIBTF benefits may provide additional financial support when a work-related injury combines with a prior disability and meets the required disability threshold. Depending on the case, benefits may include a one-time settlement or lifetime monthly payments beyond standard workers’ compensation benefits.

Benefit amounts can vary based on factors such as wages, disability ratings, and overall eligibility. Once awarded by the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board, payments are issued through the SIBTF Claims Unit.

SIBTF claims are not limited to new injuries alone, benefits may also apply when a new work injury worsens a pre-existing disability.

SIBTF assessments are often multidisciplinary, involving coordination across several specialties to evaluate overall functional impact. Musculoskeletal, psychological, and internal medicine evaluations are most commonly scheduled together, as they correspond to key domains where impairment is typically identified. Other specialty evaluations, such as vision and neurological assessments, may also be included based on the complexity and needs of the case.

Medical-legal case coordination involves structured workflows designed to support consistency and organized case progression.

The process includes intake, scheduling coordination, internal case tracking, and ongoing follow-ups across all stages. Each step is managed to maintain accuracy, communication flow, and continuity throughout the lifecycle of a case.

We are grateful for the continued collaboration of our team and partners.

The biopsychosocial model is a framework that explains health and functioning as the interaction between biological, psychological, and social factors rather than viewing them in isolation.

In many SIBTF cases, this approach can be especially important.

These cases often involve more than just the initial physical injury. The biological component may include musculoskeletal conditions and internal medical factors. The psychological component can include emotional and cognitive impact. The social or functional component often relates to vocational demands, work capacity, and real-world functioning.

Together, this is why many SIBTF cases benefit from a more comprehensive, coordinated approach that considers all three dimensions of care.

This is where multi-disciplinary evaluation can play a role, bringing together musculoskeletal providers, internal medicine, psychology, and vocational experts to help form a more complete picture of the individual’s condition and functional ability.

A more integrated approach can support clearer understanding in complex cases and help ensure all relevant factors are appropriately considered.
