Here is something I want to be transparent about in how I practice.
When a client comes to me with a primary hormone concern — PCOS, irregular cycles, perimenopause symptoms, thyroid dysfunction — gut health is always part of the assessment. Not because I have a protocol that always includes it. Because the research supports it as a connected system.
I am sharing this because I know that many women have had gut assessments and hormone assessments done separately, by different providers, with different frameworks. And I want to be clear: this is not a criticism of those providers. It is a reflection of how medical specialization works — and where functional nutrition fills a gap.
A gastroenterologist manages the gut. An endocrinologist manages the hormones. A functional nutrition counselor looks at how they communicate with each other.
That is not a replacement for specialized care. It is a complement to it.
If you are working with providers and still feel like something is missing in the picture, this might be it.
📌 Save this if you are currently seeing multiple providers for what feels like one problem.
