One of our newer counselors, Joshua Trant, LPC-A is currently accepting new clients! Joshua has a M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Louisiana at Monroe and is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate under the supervision of Kayla Attaway, LPC-S. He has a special interest in helping clients find meaning and value in their lives while learning to confront and overcome common life stressors such as anxiety and depression. Joshua believes all counseling should be person-centered, open, and honest. Joshua has worked with adults, teens, and kids in a variety of settings including schools, behavioral health hospitals, and group homes. As a former middle and high school teacher, he particularly enjoys working
with school-aged children and adolescents along with their parents. Joshua has been married for twenty years and is
blessed with one daughter and one cairn terrier.

Areas of interest: religious trauma, anxiety, depression, anger, clergy issues, behavioral issues

Restore Family Counseling will be hosting an exciting two-day couples workshop hosted by Kacy Combest, LPC. The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work Workshop is designed for couples at any stage, whether you’re in pre-engagement or married for over 50 years!

The virtual workshop includes lectures, demonstrations, videos and private couples exercises. The activities are fun, insightful and informative. And there is no need to worry about sharing your personal problems in front of others… we don’t do any group sharing at this workshop.

Criticism- Attacking another person’s character rather than addressing a specific behavior.

Contempt- Communicating disrespect, superiority, or disgust (sarcasm, eye-rolling, mocking)

Defensiveness- Responding to a complaint by denying responsibility or blaming the other person

Stonewalling-Shutting down, withdrawing, or refusing to engage during conflict.

These Four Horsemen disrupt connection in marriage and escalate any conflict, making the discussion unproductive. Instead of these disruptors, focus on mutual appreciation and respect, take a break when needed, and listening to your spouse.
