And without further ado… the reason we traveled across the world. 🌎⁣

We came to Germany to attend CCC: Comprehending Comprehensive Compression: an international conference dedicated to all things compression and the care of patients living with lymphatic and venous conditions.⁣

The event, organized by Medi and the Venous-Lymphatics World International Network (v-WIN), brings together clinicians and experts from around the world to collaborate, exchange experiences, and continue advancing compression care.⁣

We are incredibly proud that Tyler was 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝟭𝟱 guests from the United States invited to attend, joining clinicians from across the globe to learn from one another and share their experiences caring for patients who rely on compression therapy.⁣

For us, this trip is about so much more than traveling across the world. It’s about learning from the source, bringing new knowledge home, and continuing to raise the standard of care for the patients and communities we serve.⁣

Because when you have the opportunity to sit at the table with people from around the world who share the same passion and purpose, you take it. 💜🦋⁣

Take a look at this picture. Do you see the differences in color, shape, SIZE. ⁣

Both of these compression garments are meant for the same leg of the same person, based on their measurements of their lower leg but they are NOT equal in size, shape or quality. ⁣

The longer, sand colored garment on the left was custom made by our supplier specifically for our patient from the measurements our clinician took.

The smaller brown garment on the right, is one that is “ready to wear” and off the shelf. This is the size she needed based off a few measurements and recommended size guide provided by the manufacture.

This is why we are so passionate about custom compression garments, tailored to 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 body. Look at the differences!

Which one would you want to put on??

✨ Healthy Skin, Healthier You ✨

Your skin is your body’s largest organ—and when you’re living with lymphedema, lipedema, or chronic venous disease, taking care of it is more than just good hygiene: It’s an important part of protecting your overall health!

Healthy skin acts as a barrier against bacteria 🦠and injury 🤕.

When swelling is present, the skin can become dry, stretched, or more prone to cracks and wounds, making it easier for infection to develop.

💜 A few simple habits can make a big difference:
🧴Moisturize daily with a fragrance-free moisturizer.🧼Wash gently and dry well, especially between fingers and toes.🩹🧢Protect your skin from cuts, scrapes, insect bites, and sunburn.‼️Treat even small injuries promptly.👀Watch for signs of infection such as increasing redness, warmth, swelling, pain, or fever, and contact your healthcare provider if these occur.

Remember—small, consistent habits are often the most powerful. Caring for your skin is an investment in your health, comfort, and quality of life.
Healthy skin. Healthy lymphatics. Healthy you. 💜🦋

A pneumatic compression device (sometimes called a "compression pump") is a medical device that uses inflatable garments worn on the arm, leg, trunk or chest. The device gently fills and releases air in a sequence, creating a light massage-like pressure that helps move fluid through the lymphatic and venous systems.

🦋How can a pump help LYMPHedema? 🦋
For patients with lymphedema, a pump can help move the excess lymph fluid out of the swollen areas, which may reduce swelling, improve comfort, soften firm tissues, and support long-term management when used regularly as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.

💜How can a pump help LIPedema?💜
For patients with lipedema, a pump may help reduce associated swelling, feelings of heaviness, pain, and discomfort. A pump does not remove lipedema fat, but it can help manage the symptoms and support healthy lymphatic flow.

Tuesday tips!

Did you know? Many insurance plans provide coverage for compression garments, mastectomy bras and breast forms, and pneumatic compression devices when medically necessary. Coverage amounts and replacement schedules vary by insurance plan, so each patient’s benefits may be different. Our team is happy to help you understand your coverage and navigate the insurance process!

It’s Therapy Thursday and today I want to discuss what The Lymphedema Treatment Act (LTA) is and why it matters 💫

First things first: PRIOR to the LTA taking effect in January 01, 2024

❌ Medicare generally did not cover:

* Daytime compression garments (arm sleeves, stockings, gauntlets)
* Nighttime compression garments
* Most replacement garments
* Many self-management compression supplies patients needed at home

This was NOT good considering compression garments are one of the most important treatments for lymphedema, lipedema, and chronic venous insufficiency.

Thankfully, when the LTA was passed and took effect in 2024, Medicare expanded coverage to include compression garments for day and night, bandaging supplies for manual lymph drainage (MLD), and pneumatic compression pumps.

THIS IS HUGE because most major insurance carriers look to Medicare’s guidelines when they make their own.

Compression, MLD, and the pump are PREVENTATIVE measures but also extremely necessary for patients to be active in their own care, and take control of their diagnosis.

Please like and share. It’s up to us to educate and spread awareness so we can get more people the help and supplies they need to improve their quality of life. 🦋💜🫶
