There’s a conversation we have almost every day — and it’s one worth sharing.

Home health nursing and specialized wound care are not the same — and that difference matters.

Home health nurses provide skilled, compassionate care, but wound care is a specialty that often requires advanced training in wound staging, debridement, advanced dressings, compression therapy, NPWT, PRP therapy, and comprehensive clinical wound assessment.

When a wound isn’t improving after weeks of routine care, it may need more than bandage changes — it may need a wound care specialist.

At Vitality Mobile Wound Care, our APRNs and RNs are specially trained in advanced wound management, bringing specialty-level wound care directly to patients at home. We don’t replace your home health team — we work alongside them to support better healing outcomes.

Spring Seasonal Wound Risks in East Texas 🌿

Spring is finally here in East Texas—and with it comes yard work, gardening, outdoor activities, and warmer temperatures. While it’s a beautiful time of year, it also brings unique wound risks that many people don’t think about.

⚠️ Spring Wound Risks You Should Know:

• Lawn & Garden Injuries
Cuts from tools, thorns, and sharp debris are common. For diabetic patients, even a small puncture—especially on the foot—can escalate quickly.

• Insect Bites & Stings
Fire ant bites and bee stings can turn into infected wounds, particularly for those who are immunocompromised.

• Humidity & Moisture
East Texas heat and humidity create the perfect environment for infection and skin breakdown—especially under bandages or in skin folds.

• Increased Activity + Existing Wounds
Being more active in the spring can put extra stress on wounds that were healing during the winter months.

The good news? You don’t have to leave home to get expert care.
Vitality Mobile Wound Care comes directly to you, serving Tyler, Longview, Jacksonville, Nacogdoches, and surrounding East Texas communities.

Stay safe and healthy this spring, East Texas 🌸

To every family caregiver in East Texas caring for a loved one at home — we see you, and we want you to know something important:

A pressure injury is not your fault. But catching it early can change everything.

When someone is bedbound, uses a wheelchair, or has limited mobility, the skin over bony areas — heels, tailbone, hips, shoulders — is under constant pressure. Without proper care, that pressure can reduce circulation and wounds can develop quickly.

Early signs to watch for:
🔴 Redness that doesn’t go away when you relieve pressure
🔴 Skin that feels warm, firm, or spongy
🔴 A blister or dark discoloration
🔴 An open sore or crater on the skin

If you notice any of these, it’s time to involve a wound care specialist — not take a wait-and-see approach.

Vitality Mobile Wound Care comes directly to your home, assisted living facility, or skilled nursing facility across East Texas. We accept Medicare, Medicaid, and most commercial insurance.

You are not alone in this. We are one phone call away.

Living with diabetes means paying close attention to every part of your body — especially your feet and legs. Even a small cut, blister, or dry crack can become a serious wound if left untreated.

That's why we just published a brand-new guide on our blog: Diabetic Wound Care at Home.

In this guide, you'll find:
• Why diabetic wounds are different — and more dangerous
• What to look for when inspecting your own feet daily
• When a wound needs professional wound care (not just a bandage)
• How our mobile wound care team comes directly to your home in Tyler, Longview, Jacksonville, and across East Texas

Here in Smith County and surrounding areas, diabetes affects thousands of our neighbors. You don't have to manage a wound alone, ard you don't have to drive to a clinic when you're in pain or limited in mobility.

At Vitality Mobile Wound Care, our clinicians — APRNs and RNs — come to you. We accept Medicare, Medicaid, and most commercial insurance.

Read the full blog at woundphd.com and share it with someone who needs it.
