With summer here and more opportunities to play travel, club, and recreational sports, remember those are tools—not replacements for development.

Games and tournaments are a form of practice. Strength, speed, and conditioning are what make you a better athlete.

The best athletes don't choose between training and competing. They do both.

If 30 minutes of training hurts your ability to play, there may be other issues that need addressed. Long-term success comes from developing the athlete, not just playing more games.

500x2 deload. Going without bands for a couple weeks before I start my next peeking cycle and back to bands. Light weight felt light so that's the least not a bad thing.

At this facility, we have standards. If your behavior doesn't reflect the values of your school, team, or this facility, you risk losing the opportunity to train here. The same goes for academics. If your grades slip, getting them back up comes before training.

That's why I'm proud to say that so many of the athletes you see achieving great things in sports are also excelling in the classroom. Many are earning academic awards right alongside their athletic accomplishments.

Congratulations to all of you. You've found a way to be great students, great athletes, and good people.

And don't forget to thank your parents, coaches, and teachers. Their guidance, support, and expectations helped create the opportunities you're now benefiting from.

Keep up the great work.

There are a lot of youth coaches who can't handle correction from people with more experience, more success, or better results.

In other words, they're coaches who aren't coachable.

Then they wonder why their athletes struggle with criticism, why parents demand special treatment, why kids quit when they don't get playing time, and why sportsmanship is disappearing.

Leadership is taught by example and athletes learn far more from what a coach does than what a coach says.
