Another successful Back-to-School and Community Health Fair! While the weather wasn't the best and forced us inside, we are so thankful for our community braving the weather and showing up.

So many great agencies made this possible: Monroe County FRN and FSC, Monroe County Head Start/Early Head Start, Highmark, Vandalia Health/CAMC/GVMC, The Health Plan, Monroe Health Center, WV Adult Education Program, FMRS, CASE WV, Wellpoint, Aetna, and WIC. We also had the Vandalia Health Mobile Mammogram Bus and an American Red Cross blood drive onsite.

Special shoutout to Michelle McFall with FRN and Jeana Carr with Monroe County Schools! These two ladies are the driving force behind this event.

In the coming weeks, the USDA will be completing the annual oral rabies vaccine drop to vaccinate raccoons against the rabies virus. Parts of Monroe County are included in this.

The ORV baits to be distributed throughout the bait zone are plastic packets of vaccine coated with an oily, fish-scented substance to attract raccoons. Each bait is marked with a toll-free number (1-877-722-6725) for people to call for assistance or information if they find or come in contact with a bait.

Today's the day! Rain or shine, the Back-to-School Agency and Community Health Fair is still happening at JMHS. Don't let the rain damper your chance to see what our community offers; if necessary we will move indoors so come out and see us.

Starting at 12:00 the Vandalia Mammogram Mobile Bus will be onsite, along with our American Red Cross Blood Drive. At 4:00, all of our amazing community partners will be set up and ready to see you. Rumor has it that there will be some amazing give-a-ways at the end of the day!
