Midland’s Juneteenth Block Party returns on Friday, June 19, 2026 from 6:00–8:30 PM at Creative 360!

Join us for a day of joy, reflection, and community as we celebrate Juneteenth, commemorating freedom and the rich cultural heritage of African Americans. All are welcome as we share free food, music, family activities, and time in community.

Local community partners & friends, the Chapman Foundation for Caring Communities is having a session of Our Community Serves in Bay City for three days: Tuesday, August 18, 2026- Thursday, August 20, 2026 from 8:30AM-4:30PM. Nikki and I (Bethany) have both taken this engaging, transformative course! *Registration closes on Friday, July 17!* From the website "Our Community Listens is a three-day communication skills class designed to help you listen more effectively, express yourself more clearly, and build stronger relationships, transforming the way you show up for your family, your workplace, and your community." Emotional awareness is being able to recognize and understand our own feelings and actions- and those of others. It is an important part of development as we learn how our feelings and actions impact ourselves and others. A simple way to practice is to make faces and use words to label them. You can also talk about how characters illustrated in books might be feeling based on their facial expressions.
