Celebrating 8 years of TMH MANCAVE. 🤞🏾 🖤

Eight years of showing up for Black men and boys. Making room for real conversations, building trust, and listening to what our community needs.

To our fellas, families, facilitators, partners, donors, and supporters: thank you. Every time you pulled up, brought your boy, shared our work, or helped make a program possible, you helped build this community.

We don’t take your trust lightly. We honor the vulnerability it takes to let somebody know how you’re really doing.

Swipe through 8 lessons from 8 years of TMH MANCAVE. 👉🏾

Here’s to more conversations, more connection, and more spaces WHERE BLACK MENtal HEALth MATTERS.

Leave us some love in the comments, drop a 🖤 for 8 years!

Does he quit when it gets hard? Start strong, then fall off? Barely say a word at the dinner table?

Sometimes, the conversation starts on the mats. 🥊

At TMH MANCAVE’s Boxing & Mental Health, teens practice taking correction, working through setbacks, and showing up again. They learn to pause before reacting and stay calm under pressure.

It’s bigger than boxing. It’s about how they handle what comes next.

Have a teen in mind? We’d love to have him join us. Register him today, or share this with a parent who needs it. 👇🏾

You don’t always have to be the strong one.

The one who figures it out.
The one everybody calls.
The one who says “I’m good” and keeps it moving.

Sometimes you need somewhere to take the mask off too.

Pull up to Mask Off this October.

Some guys work through what they’re carrying with their hands. Others chop it up with a friend. Here, there’s room for both.🤝🏾

TMH MANCAVE’s Boxing & Mental Health session helps young men practice focus and discipline. Honest conversation gives them space to process what they may not always know how to say.

Here, they can move, reset, talk and be heard.

Parents of teen boys know better than anyone that “I’m good” does not always mean he’s good. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Su***de prevention does not always start in a crisis. Sometimes it starts in the car. At the dinner table. After practice. With a trusted adult asking, “You good for real?” and actually staying long enough to hear the answer.

In 2023, 19.6% of Black high school students said they had seriously considered attempting su***de during the previous year.

The stat isn’t a prediction about your son, it’s a reason to check in sooner. Listen without rushing to fix everything. Remind him that he has people and help him connect with consistent support as he needs it.

Boxing & Mental Health gives boys ages 12–17 a free place to move, learn, and talk when they are ready. They’ll learn real boxing fundamentals, then sit down for an honest conversation with coaches and mental health professionals.

Teens don’t have to share before they’re ready. It’s just a room full of fellas who want to see him win - in the gym and outside of it.

Somewhere along the way, you learned to put it on.

“I’m good.”
“I’m straight.”
“I got it.”

At work. Around family. With your boys. Sometimes you wear it so long, you forget it’s there.

Monthly Wellness Group is now mask off.

Same space, just a new name for what we’ve been doing all along.

Once a month, pull up to the TMH MANCAVE office for one hour of good conversation with fellas who get it.

Nobody makes you introduce yourself. There's no "tell us why you're here." Some guys don't say a word their first time, and that's completely fine. Pull up as you are.

If we’re celebrating our past, we must acknowledge our responsibility for the future.✊🏾

Black boys deserve to see THIS.

Themselves in suits, not statistics.

In publications, not obituaries.

Graduating, not being lowered into the ground.

We may have broke the chains our ancestors wore in 1865 — but somehow today, we put new ones on ourselves. 🤎
Too many of our boys in Chicago — and across this country — are being taken too soon. By bullets. By each other.

Our ancestors didn’t bleed, march, and die so that we could destroy ourselves.

The fight for freedom isn’t over, it just changed its face. And right now, we need our boys to fight FOR life, not take it.

To every young king who sees this: You ARE the dream they died for. 💪🏾

Act like it. Live like it. 👑

Good food brings people together. Great men keep them together. 🔥

Meet Chef Taji Gaines, our featured chef for this weekend’s Summer Time Chi: Father’s Day Cookout.

When we asked him what fatherhood means, he didn’t hesitate:

“Fatherhood adds a necessary balance to the nurturing and upbringing of our children.”

Pull up Saturday to hear from Chef Taji, enjoy a live dry rub demonstration, grab some good food, and celebrate the fathers, father figures, mentors, and fellas who continue showing up for their families and communities.

Some people benefited from the silence.

Some people survived by pretending nothing happened.

Some people built their identity around the cycle itself.

So when you challenge it, they take it personally.

Let them.

You’re not responsible for protecting a system that hurt you.

You’re responsible for deciding whether it continues.

Breaking cycles will ruffle feathers because healing exposes what generations learned to ignore.

And yet, every generation has a few men who decide:

“It stops with me.”

The fathers.
The father figures.
The mentors.
The cycle breakers.

Those are the men we’re celebrating on 6/13.

Pull up with your son, daughter, or mentee and celebrate Father’s Day the TMH MANCAVE way.

Think you’re the grill master of your crew? 🔥
Prove it.

Grill Competition registration closes 6/7.
