Building strength, mobility, and confidence! We had a great session at the Town of Wakefield Council on Aging today with our partner Coach Julio Salado. We’re inspired by these participants! If you are too, you may be interested in our upcoming Resiliency in Motion class. It’s designed for people living with dementia or Alzheimer’s and the loved ones who support them. You do not need to live in Wakefield to attend. Check out the final photo for more about this wellness class!

Resiliency in Motion provides a welcoming environment with gentle fitness, with support from our dementia-trained staff. Thank you to The I'm Still Here Foundation for their grant supporting this program. For more about the upcoming class or our Caregiver Support program: 781-388-2319 or [email protected].

Too often, older adults remain in the hospital when their health allows them to return home. They simply need support to make the transition successfully, and people they can trust to make that support happen. This article from Becker's Hospital Review highlights the importance of partnerships between hospitals and organizations like Mystic Valley Aging Services, and the impact of funding from the Commonwealth.

We host BBQs every summer at our meal sites around the area. The BBQ series brought us to MSC where we partner with Medford Council on Aging, the Medford Senior Center, where we had a special guest, Christine Barber for State Senate. We were excited to have some youth volunteers serving lunch, the AM2PM group from Sanctuary UCC and Grace Episcopal Church. Wonderful to see everyone having a food time and enjoying their lunch!

Twice a year, our team heads to Encore Boston Harbor for Feed the Funnel. Wynn Resorts Foundation organizes this event, bringing together non-profits and volunteers to pack hundreds of thousands of meals for people in need in our community. We were proud to have members of Mystic Valley's staff, Board of Directors, and volunteer team lend a hand.

Happy National Senior Citizens Day! This tradition began in the U.S. and has since spread around the world. As President Ronald Reagan said in his 1988 proclamation: "Throughout our history, older people have achieved much for our families, our communities, and our country. That remains true today, and gives us ample reason this year to reserve a special day in honor of the senior citizens who mean so much to our land." The president also called on Americans to build communities where people can age safely, with support and respect. 🩵
