🌟 Start with baby’s nose lined up with your ni**le.
🌟 Shape your breast like a “breast burger” to help baby take in more breast tissue.
🌟 Bring baby to the breast — rather than bringing the breast to baby — with their chin leading. Support baby around the neck and shoulders, allowing their head to tilt back slightly as you bring them in to latch.
🤱 If the latch feels shallow or painful, gently break the suction with a clean finger at the corner of baby’s mouth and try again rather than pulling baby directly off the breast.
It can take a few tries to find a deeper, more comfortable latch.
And if feeding continues to hurt or you’re struggling to get a comfortable latch, that’s worth looking at more closely. An individualized feeding assessment can help identify what may be contributing and what support makes sense for you and your baby.
