is time honored healing art creates harmony and balance in our mind, body and spirit. Why It's Important To Keep Your Qi Moving
The energy in your body naturally wants to keep flowing. But many things can happen to interfere. Your energy can get stuck or start flowing in the wrong direction. This is how disease starts to manifest. Our energy is directly tied to our emotions. When we feel stress, grief, or anger...there is a specific negative energetic impact. Left unaddressed this can easily turn into illness. Emei healing methods help you to stay in balance and keep your energy flowing smoothly. Best of all this is done through positive means with no ill side effects. The more you practice the more you continue to increase your mental, physical, and emotional health. Healthy aging isn’t about pushing harder. It’s about learning how to move well today.

As we grow older, the way we exercise and care for our bodies needs to evolve. Qigong offers a gentle but powerful way to support balance, mobility, strength, posture, coordination, energy, and confidence in everyday movement.

Through relaxed breathing, mindful movement, and proper alignment, we can continue building stability and resilience without forcing the body.

One of the most important principles is simple:

Practice within your range.

You don’t have to move fast or exhaust yourself for movement to be valuable. With awareness, patience, and consistency, we can continue cultivating vitality at every stage of life.

The Three Teachings and Qigong: Taoism, Buddhism, and Confucianism

What can Taoism, Buddhism, and Confucianism teach us about Qigong?

In the final article of our nine-part series on Qigong Philosophy, History, and Lineage, we look at how these three great traditions have helped shape the deeper principles of Qigong.

Taoism teaches natural flow, softness, Yin and Yang, and harmony with nature.

Buddhism encourages mindfulness, compassion, inner stillness, and freedom from unnecessary attachment.

Confucianism emphasizes discipline, respect, responsibility, and the refinement of character.

Together, the Three Teachings help us understand Qigong as more than physical movement. It becomes a path for harmonizing the body, calming the mind, strengthening the heart, and bringing greater awareness into daily life.

The Emei Qigong Story: History, Lineage, and Its Place in Qigong

Where did Emei Qigong begin, and how does it fit into the larger history of Qigong?

Its story takes us to Mount Emei, one of China’s sacred mountains, where the monk Bai Yun entered a deep retreat in 1227. Drawing on Buddhist and Daoist teachings, Chinese medicine, martial arts, meditation, and healing practices, he created an integrated system known as Emei Qigong.

For nearly 800 years, these teachings have been carefully passed from master to master. Today, they continue as a living practice supporting physical health, emotional balance, energy cultivation, and spiritual growth.

Who is the Laughing Buddha—and is he the same as Maitreya?

The familiar smiling, round-bellied Laughing Buddha is commonly associated with Budai, a joyful Chinese monk known for carrying a cloth sack. Maitreya holds a different place in Buddhist tradition as the future Buddha, representing loving-kindness, hope, patience, and spiritual renewal.

Although their stories began separately, they gradually became connected within East Asian Buddhist traditions.

For Qigong practitioners, these figures offer meaningful reminders:

Practice with joy.
Release unnecessary burdens.
Treat yourself and others with compassion.
Remain patient with gradual progress.
Maintain hope and openness.

The Yellow Emperor and Qigong: Ancient Roots of Chinese Healing Wisdom

In Chinese tradition, the Yellow Emperor, also known as Huangdi, represents ancient healing wisdom, longevity, balance, and living in harmony with nature.

For Qigong practitioners, this connection is not about saying the Yellow Emperor created Qigong. It is about understanding the deeper principles that continue to support practice today: Qi, Yin and Yang, Five Elements, organ harmony, prevention, seasonal living, and cultivating health over time.

Qigong brings these ancient ideas into daily life through breath, movement, stillness, and awareness.

This week, I’m sharing Part 4 of our 9-article series on Qigong Philosophy, History, and Lineage**.

This article looks at **Confucianism and Qigong**, and how the teachings of Confucius can help us understand Qigong practice in a more grounded and practical way.

Confucianism reminds us that self-cultivation is not only something we do during meditation or movement. It is something we bring into daily life through patience, respect, sincerity, discipline, and how we treat the people around us.

For Qigong practitioners, this is an important reminder. Practice is not only about moving Qi, relaxing the body, or calming the mind. It is also about becoming steadier, kinder, more balanced, and more aware in everyday situations.
