Hey everyone! I’d like to introduce you to Archibald, Archie for short! This is a dog of one of my clients, Brooklyn. She showed me pictures of him while I was doing a tattoo on her and when I saw him I, for some reason, immediately pictured what he would look like as a person and had to draw him! I haven’t posted digital art in a very long time and I’ll try to post more of what my brain comes up with! Thank you Brooklyn for letting me show him off, he deserves all the love!
Now this is all my own personal way of seeing him. He’s a young dog but with his name, scruffy hair, and expressions, I imagined him being older. And with the name Archibald I imagined him being a gentleman of a manor, a look on his face seemingly unamused. I translated his fur color scheme over to his clothes and hair and gave him a cane with a tennis ball on the top (cause dog). Gold accents to further give the rich/noble feel, the monocle to represent the brown patches over his eyes and included his fun underbite! I also incorporated the reference pictures as background images on the wall behind him in different styles!
All of it was done using Procreate. Drawn with a variety of different brushes and using some downloaded textures as overlays for texture. I’ve been trying to practice more digital work like this so this was a great opportunity! I provided the final image, an image without the background to see him clearer, Archie’s reference images I used, an image that shows some textures I used and where the pictures went, and finally my sketch sheet where a tried a few poses and planned some ideas out.
Like Archie, adopting a pet gives an animal in need a safe, loving home and a second chance at life. Every adoption helps reduce overcrowding in shelters while bringing a loyal companion into your family! If you’re ever looking into finding a new forever fur buddy, please look into adopting!
If anyone has any questions on my process, brushes used, or how my brain came up with this message me! Thanks for lookin! 🐾🦴🎾
