When my mom died, I was 17.
One of the things I held onto was the belief that everything happens for a reason.
At the time, I think that was the only thing that got me through.
But looking back, I don’t think I was only searching for meaning.
I think I was searching for certainty.
Because if I could understand why it happened, maybe the pain would make sense.
Maybe the unknown wouldn’t feel quite so unbearable.
Over the years, I’ve come to see it a little differently.
I still believe there can be meaning in what we experience.
But I’ve learned that peace doesn’t always come from understanding why.
Sometimes peace comes from accepting that we may never fully know.
From trusting that something greater than us can still be at work, even when we can’t yet see it.
Life won’t always give us certainty.
Sometimes the invitation is simply to stay present, even while we still don’t know.
That’s where faith and trust have become so important to me.
Not because they remove uncertainty,
but because they help me move through it.
