Does your energy crash every afternoon?

If you’re dealing with afternoon fatigue, brain fog, sugar cravings, or low energy don’t automatically assume you just need more coffee.

Your energy can be influenced by nutrition, sleep, stress, blood sugar patterns, thyroid health, medications, and other underlying health factors.

The goal isn’t just to push through the crash. It’s to understand why it’s happening.

That’s the functional medicine approach at Cardinal Functional Health Center. We look at your symptoms and the bigger picture to help identify potential contributors and create a personalized plan.

🌿Follow us for practical functional medicine education.

Your supplement cabinet is full… but you’re STILL tired, bloated, dealing with brain fog, or just not feeling like yourself. 👀

Before you buy another supplement, let’s talk about something important:

**More supplements do not automatically mean better health.**

It’s easy to see a supplement online and think:

“I’m tired → I need B vitamins.”

“I’m stressed → I need magnesium.”

“I’m bloated → I need a probiotic.”

“My hormones are off → I need hormone support.”

But symptoms can have MANY potential contributors and taking supplements without understanding the bigger picture may mean you’re spending money without addressing what’s actually going on.

A functional medicine approach looks at the **whole person**, including symptoms, health history, nutrition, lifestyle, medications, and appropriate lab testing when indicated.

The goal isn't to have the biggest supplement collection.

The goal is an individualized plan that makes sense for YOU.

And remember: supplements can have side effects and may interact with medications, so more isn't always better.

Tell me below—how many supplement bottles are currently in your cabinet?

If you wake up exhausted, rely on caffeine to get through the day, or hit an afternoon energy crash, coffee might not be the problem.

It may be worth asking WHY your energy is so low in the first place.

Persistent fatigue and low energy can have many possible contributors, including:

• Poor sleep quality
• Chronic stress
• Nutrition and nutrient deficiencies
• Blood sugar patterns
• Thyroid health
• Medications
• Other underlying health conditions

Coffee can give you a temporary boost, but it doesn’t address the reason you’re feeling depleted.

That’s where a functional medicine approach can help look at the bigger picture and identify patterns that may be contributing to fatigue and low energy.

Your body isn’t supposed to run on caffeine alone. 🤍

💬 Be honest: how many cups of coffee does it take before you feel like yourself?

📌 Save this if coffee has become your energy strategy.

Brain fog is not a personality trait.

If you're forgetting words mid sentence, walking into rooms and blanking, or reading the same line three times... that's not just "being busy." That's your body asking for attention.

Blood sugar, sleep, hormones, stress, nutrient levels. There's usually a pattern behind the fog, and once you find it, everything gets clearer.

Save this for the next time you need the reminder 🤍 Comment BRAIN FOG and we'll send you where to start.

Your labs can be “normal” and you can still not feel like yourself.

Functional medicine looks at the bigger picture — your symptoms, health history, lifestyle, medications, and patterns in your lab work — rather than focusing on one number.

If you’re dealing with fatigue, hormone imbalance, digestive issues, brain fog, or other persistent symptoms, you deserve a deeper conversation about what could be contributing to how you feel.

Have you ever been told your labs were “normal” when you knew something still felt off? Comment 🙋‍♀️ below

"Your labs are back!" ...Now what?

At Cardinal, the labs are the beginning, not the end. We start with a real conversation, order only the testing you actually need, then guide you through every "what's next" — a clear plan, ongoing support, and a provider who knows your story. Because answers without a plan aren't answers.

Ladies, this one's for you.

If you're in your 40s or 50s and feeling the shift — losing strength, mood changes, brain fog, sleep that never feels like enough — there's a supplement worth knowing about.

Creatine. Yes, really.

Here's what most women don't know: estrogen affects how your body makes and uses creatine. As estrogen declines in perimenopause, your stores drop — right when you need them most. And women naturally carry 70-80% less creatine than men to begin with.

What the research shows for women 40+:

💪 Muscle preservation — helps fight the accelerated muscle loss that comes with estrogen decline (especially paired with strength training)

🦴 Bone support — emerging evidence for protecting bone density, including the hip

🧠 Brain fog fighter — supports memory and focus, especially when sleep is disrupted (sound familiar?)

😴 Sleep-loss resilience — helps your brain perform even after those 3 AM wake-ups

💚 Mood support — promising research on creatine and mood in women

The dose? Just 3-5g of creatine monohydrate daily. No loading phase. No bulky "water weight" myth — that's outdated bro-science.

Tell us: Did you think creatine was just for gym bros? Drop a 🙋‍♀️ if this is news to you.

Perimenopause isn't something you just have to white-knuckle through. Your hormones, your muscle, your brain — it's all connected. That's root cause medicine. 🌿
