We are excited to launch our Backyard BBQ: The Business of Aging information sessions!

Gather a few friends, neighbors, or family members in your backyard, and we’ll provide the food and an engaging discussion about aging well at home.

Together, we’ll peel back the onion on some of the important topics many families face but often don’t discuss until a crisis occurs.

Topics may include:
✅ Aging well at home
✅ Planning ahead before you need help
✅ Important documents and decision-makers
✅ Caring for aging parents
✅ Navigating home care and community resources
✅ Having “the conversation” before it’s too late

If you’ve ever wondered, “Are we prepared?” or “What should we know now to avoid problems later?” this casual gathering is for you.

Interested in hosting a Backyard BBQ for your friends, family, church group, or neighbors?

Today marks the end of an era for our Marshall county business.

Our very own Pati has poured her heart and soul into our team, clients, and the community for many years, and now Pati has made the decision to retire! She will leave behind a legacy of love, care, and inspiration that touched countless lives.

With her heart full of empathy and a spirit of kindness, Pati has been a beacon of hope and purpose, reminding everyone of their value and potential.

Though we are excited for her new chapter her absence will be deeply missed by our team, clients, and especially by Kristi.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude for the years of selfless service, the sacrifices she has made, and most importantly for being a pillar of strength we could always count on. ❤️

Retirement is not the end of a purpose, but instead a new beginning.

As Pati embarks on this well-deserved journey, we pray that it brings her happiness, peace, love, and joy. Her impact will never fade, and we celebrate the profound difference she has made. Congratulations, Pati! We love you 🥰.

🧅 The Business of Aging 🧅
“Peeling back the onion” one conversation at a time…

We spend so much time planning vacations, graduations, weddings, and retirement… but very few families are truly prepared for what happens when an aging loved one suddenly declines physically, cognitively, or medically.

That’s why I’ve started offering private in-home gatherings called :

The Business of Aging — intimate conversations designed to educate families, spark meaningful dialogue, and help people start getting their ducks in a row BEFORE a crisis happens.

We peel back the layers and talk about things many families avoid until it’s too late:

✔️ Power of Attorney
✔️ Healthcare representatives
✔️ Living wills & advance directives
✔️ Long-term care planning
✔️ Aging at home vs facility care
✔️ Financial & caregiver burnout
✔️ Medication management
✔️ End-of-life wishes
✔️ Important documents families should know about
✔️ What happens if mom or dad can no longer make decisions?
✔️The 4 “P”s in place?

And so much more…..

Here’s the reality…
Studies show about one-third of U.S. adults have completed advance directives or end-of-life planning documents. (PubMed)
And more than half of Americans still do not have estate planning documents in place.

Families are often left trying to make emotional decisions in the middle of a crisis — while grieving, overwhelmed, and unsure what their loved one would have wanted.

These gatherings are not about fear.
They are about education, empowerment, peace of mind, and protecting the people we love.

Because aging is everyone’s business eventually.

If you’d like to host a small private gathering in your home with family or friends to start these important conversations, I would love to connect with you.

As Mother’s Day approaches, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate the incredible women behind FirstCare Homecare — the caregivers who spend their days pouring love, compassion, patience, and support into the lives of others while also caring for the ones they love at home. 💙

Some are raising little ones, some have children who are grown and building lives of their own, and some proudly love and nurture their fur babies like family. No matter what motherhood or caregiving looks like for each person, one thing remains the same — the heart it takes to care deeply for others.

To all of our amazing caregivers balancing long days, family life, emotional support, and servant hearts… we see you, we appreciate you, and we are so thankful for the love you give both at work and at home.

Happy Mother’s Day to the women who help others live their best life at home while also loving and caring for their own families in all the beautiful forms family can take. 🌷

What if a little extra help at home could change everything?

At FirstCare Homecare, we are thoughtfully opening availability for new families in Porter and Jasper County.

We are a small, relationship-focused team—meaning you’re not just another name on a schedule. You’re part of something personal.

Our caregivers are nationally background checked, deeply compassionate, and driven by a servant’s heart to do meaningful, purposeful work every single day.

If you’ve been quietly wondering when the right time is to bring in support… this might be it.

We’re here to walk alongside you.
