🚨 Expanding Access to Life-Saving Narcan Across Carter County 🚨

The Carter County Health Center and the RISE Program are proud to announce an expansion of community access to Narcan® (naloxone) through new public distribution locations across Carter County.

Narcan is a safe, easy-to-use medication that can rapidly reverse an opioid overdose and save a life. With overdose deaths continuing to impact communities across Missouri and the nation, having Narcan readily available can make the difference between life and death while waiting for emergency responders to arrive.

Thanks to partnerships with local organizations, Narcan distribution boxes are now available 24/7 at:

📍 Carter County Health Center
📍 Carter County Library – Ellsinore Branch
📍 Refuge Church – Grandin

These boxes provide free access to Narcan for community members who may need it for themselves, a loved one, or someone experiencing an overdose emergency.

Everyone can play a role in preventing overdose deaths. Carrying Narcan is no different than knowing CPR or having a first aid kit—it is a tool that can help save a life when every second counts.

We would like to thank the Carter County Library and Refuge Church for partnering with us to make this important resource more accessible throughout our community.

If you would like to learn more about Narcan, overdose prevention, or the RISE Program, please contact the Carter County Health Center.

When community partners work together, great things happen.

Last evening, local first responders encountered a family traveling through the area with children who did not have appropriate child safety seats. Recognizing the importance of keeping children safe, multiple agencies quickly came together to help.

The Van Buren Police Department, Carter County Sheriff's Office, Van Buren Fire Department, and Carter County Health Center coordinated efforts to ensure the children were provided with proper child safety seats before continuing their travels.

After being contacted by our law enforcement and fire department partners, Carter County Health Center staff responded to assist the family and make sure the children had the protection they needed while riding in a vehicle.

We are grateful for the strong partnerships that exist among agencies in Carter County. By working together, we can address immediate needs, improve safety, and make a positive difference for those in our community.

Thank you to all the agencies involved for putting the safety and well-being of children first. ❤️👶🚗

What can you do if you have to act fast to save someone's life? CPR increases a person’s chance of survival by double or even triple! 70% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen in homes, which means that if you are called on to give CPR in an emergency, you will most likely be trying to save the life of someone you love: a parent, a sibling, a spouse or a friend.

In just 90 seconds, you can learn the two simple steps to hands-only CPR: https://loom.ly/5PCqes0
