Hello Apothecary Circle,

It is such a beautiful day, I thought I would share some pictures of my flower gardens. I love being able to sit out and take in all the beauty that nature provides and smell the sweet smell of the aromatics coming off the plants, especially the roses.

The light pink one is called perfume delight and it absolutely does smell like perfume.

Good morning Apothecary Circle,

It’s so funny that I started this journey back in 2020 reading Rosemary Gladstar’s book “Medicinal Herbs, a beginners guide” and now I am only 2 homework assignments away from finishing her herbal course “The Science & Art of Herbal Study”. I cannot wait to get my hands on the completion certificate signed none other than Rosemary herself.

I will be finishing this course in perfect timing to start David Winston’s Clinical Herbalism course in September.

I cannot wait for what is to come and hope you will all be along for the ride, so that we may all continue to learn on this herbal journey.

Good evening Apothecary Circle,

Another new product that will be featured at tomorrow’s Bridgeton Blueberry Festival is our new Sun Burn Soother!!!

This contains a soothing and skin repairing blend of Immortelle and Lavender essential oil paired with St.John’s Wort infused sweet almond oil and pure Aloe Vera gel.

This is such a fun way to blend both herbalism and aromatherapy.

For an even more cooling effect, keep it in the fridge to help cool the yang excess from the sun burn.

Hello Apothecary Circle,

The correct answer for yesterday’s trivia game was “Lobelia”.

Indian to***co (Lobelia inflata) is an herb that contains the alkaloid lobeline, which has a strong effect on the nervous and respiratory system.

This herb is traditionally used for its expectorant and antispasmodic therapeutic actions for the respiratory system. It can also be used as a muscle relaxant to help relieve muscle tension and spasms. Lobelia has also string effects on the nervous system but this is more relative to the neuromuscular system then calming nervousness.

This herb is a prime example of the saying “more is not always better”. Lobelia should be used in low doses as this is a very potent herb. Some say that the tea form of this herb is more likely to bring on its emetic properties than using it in tincture form.
