New Athlete

New Athlete New Athlete Physical Therapy is dedicated to the restoration of total human health and performance t Our secret is simple.

The cornerstone of New Athlete is our ability to help the incomplete athlete and make them whole. Our approach is to not only restore, but more often than not, have our athletes come out more fit, better balanced, and better prepared for competition than prior to their struggles with pain and lack of performance. We do not focus on the end of the issue rather we attack the route cause of the movement issues.

The beginning was really in the late 90’s but I was too delusional to see straight. Thought I could be a pro football player. Silly me. Once I saw the ESPN piece on I was hooked but it took years until I could actually get a program from Jay. 25 years later is still rooted to the methods learned from Jay Schroeder. Is it the only way to train? Of course not but I believe it’s the best way to train. I remember Jay telling me around 2003 ish that this was 20 years ahead of its time. I would argue that even today it’s remains 20 years ahead of its time. From to and to and eventually and recently We will continue to produce elite results for the next 25 years. Who knows maybe by 2050 folks will come around.

A classic. Ramp up that drive. Make the stimulus higher than you would experience on the field.

Athletes will@lose 8-12% of their speed during the course of a season. If you are running 20.5 MPH at the start you’ll finish the season at or around 18MPH. That means you are covering 12’ less than what you did going into the season. This is particularly present when you pop in athletes film, and you see longer breakaway plays in the beginning of the season versus the end. It’s a fact that speed is the first quality that begins to diminish when it is not dosed properly. Coaches conditioning is not speed training however, speed training can be conditioning. Athletes and coaches alike will see this and still resort to not training speed or dive in and do more nonsensical running for the sake of conditioning and or assume that running is speed work when in fact it is not.

Simplest and perhaps@overly simplistic way of thinking but the illustration works. Imagine you are training and you just don’t feel locked in. Your muscle can be flexed or contracted but you just don’t feel like it’s got the juice. It might not a weakness in that you just can’t lift much. It most likely is a signaling deficiency from the brain to the muscle itself. The sitting the signal the more efficient the muscle will be. Form and doing things right is so critical before you maximize intent.

What type@of engine do you want to build when you compete on the field of play. To much if one thing is not good. Balance is the key. I think when athletes lift to much with just heavy concentric lifting they begin ti stunt themselves with a high strength engine with poor capacity for high level outputs on the field. Moving weight fast and or moving their bodies fast and stopping g fast creates a 2 High effect or a massive CNS output and capacity increase. A sports car if you will. Now that doesn’t mean ignore heavy lifting. I’m not saying that. What I’m saying is reduce it dramatically and watch the results change.

1 MPH can mean the difference of playing or not playing. It can mean being a starter versus a back up. It can lead more opportunities to perform. It can actually lead to better health on the field. It’s just 1 mile an hour but it gives you six more feet to make a play or turn a coaches eye towards you. Imagine having 3 miles an hour or 4 miles an hour more speed than what you had last season imagine covering 20 feet more than what you did last season, I’ve got believe that put you in a position to create more options for your plane future. and have helped hundreds of athletes in the Portland / Vancouver area get faster and add at minimum 1 MPH to their speed. Are you next?

One of the best decision I have ever made with find and open market and lock it down. Being the fastest speed lab in country is an amazing feat and we will continue to build. and were life savers.
