AK Rheumatology

AK Rheumatology Welcome! We also offer joint injections and infusion therapy for autoimmune diseases. Hello!

At AK Rheumatology, we can help diagnose and treat different types of arthritis, soft tissue disorders, systemic autoimmune disorders, osteoporosis, and gout. I am Dr. Uzma Khan, a Board Certified Adult Rheumatologist with more than 20 years of experience. My education started in Pakistan and my passion for learning brought me to the USA. After several years of training on the East coast and Midwest, I have been a part of the Northwest community since 2004 - when I joined the Vancouver Clinic.

Kindness matters when you are looking for answers about your health.
We are grateful for patients who share their experience with AK Rheumatology, from feeling heard by Dr. Khan to feeling welcomed by our front desk team.
For many people, the first step is not just about booking an appointment. It is about feeling comfortable enough to ask questions, share concerns, and trust the care in front of them.
Thank you, Radhika, for your kind words. 🤍

Lupus, also called systemic lupus erythematosus or SLE, is an autoimmune condition.
This means the immune system can mistakenly attack healthy tissue. Lupus may affect different parts of the body, including the joints, skin, kidneys, blood, heart, lungs, or other areas.
Symptoms can look different from person to person. Some people may experience joint pain, fatigue, rashes, swelling, or flare-ups that come and go.
Because lupus can be complex, it is important to speak with a specialist if symptoms continue or feel hard to explain. 💙

Your diagnosis matters, but your personal story matters too.
Two patients can have the same condition and still experience different symptoms, different pain levels, and different daily challenges.
That is why care should feel personal, thoughtful, and built around you. 🤍

Insurance questions, referrals, appointment details, paperwork, and not knowing what to expect can make people delay the care they need.

You do not have to figure out every step alone. 🤍

Getting care should feel easier, especially when pain, stiffness, or fatigue already makes the day harder.
For eligible patients, AK Rheumatology offers virtual visits for ongoing rheumatology support. This can be helpful for follow-ups, symptom check-ins, and care conversations from the comfort of home.
You still deserve thoughtful, expert care, even when coming into the office is not the easiest option. 💻

Gout pain can feel sudden, sharp, and overwhelming.
It often shows up as intense pain, swelling, redness, and warmth in one joint, commonly the big toe, though it can affect other joints too.
Gout flares may come on quickly and can make walking, sleeping, or even wearing a shoe feel difficult.
If gout keeps coming back, it is not something to simply “wait out” every time. A rheumatology evaluation can help you better understand your flares, triggers, and care options. 🦶

No two patients experience pain the exact same way.
You may have the same diagnosis as someone else, but your symptoms, daily routine, medical history, and goals are your own.
That is why rheumatology care should never feel rushed or one-size-fits-all.
At AK Rheumatology, care is designed around the person in front of us, with time to listen, understand, and guide you through the next step. 🤍
