Ourganda

Ourganda Ourganda meets urgent needs — and at the same time, goes upstream and stop crises from happening in the first place. Thank you for contributing today!

Most people cringe when confronted with human misery. They may be generous, but they feel confused about how to help when they see a child who may not live or hear that a woman in labor is turned away from the hospital unless she arrives with her own birthing kit. At Ourganda, our teams take medical care to people who have no chance of seeing a doctor or visiting a clinic. Once someone's physical

health improves, our caregivers link arms with them and show them the pathway to spiritual, relational, and financial flourishing. Our medical teams consist of four medical clinical officers, two nurses, two midwives, two drivers, and a part-time accountant. They travel in all-wheel drive vehicles to remote villages on the muddiest pathways where they create wellness clubs and deliver life-saving medical care wrapped in kindness. When you partner with Ourganda, people inevitably flourish. Our teams work hard in the villages; they touch people's lives every day. But it is your generosity that empowers them. Every time you give, you can feel satisfied that you are their everyday hero.

What happens when the nearest hospital is 3 hours away… and labor starts now?

In remote Ugandan villages, access can change everything.
For many mothers and families, the challenge is not just medical care itself. It is distance to the hospitals, the transportation, sterile medical supplies, and whether help can be reached quickly enough when it matters most.

That is why maternal health in rural Uganda has to include more than emergency response. It has to include practical access, safe birth supplies, prevention-based care, and support that can reach remote communities before the moment becomes even more urgent.

Follow to see what this work looks like on the ground in the villages Ourganda serves.

One act of violence changed this baby's life forever.

Just one week after he was born, Sunday became an orphan. His grandmother, Janifer, stepped in as his caregiver, becoming the only mother figure he knows.

But Janifer is facing this responsibility with physical limitations, economic hardship, and the deep trauma left behind by domestic violence.

This happened just before Ourganda’s prevention program expanded into their village.

And this is exactly the kind of tragedy our community-based domestic violence prevention and response programs are now working to stop in remote Ugandan villages.

Your support can help provide mobility support for Janifer, education for Sunday, and continued funding for domestic violence prevention and response programs that help stop these tragedies before they happen.

$200 helps provide a specialized wheelchair.

$90 covers nursery school fees for Sunday for an entire year.

Any amount helps us protect families and break cycles of violence.

Together, we can help change a child’s story.

A mother should not have to give birth without sterile supplies.

In some remote Ugandan villages, access to basic medical supplies is not always guaranteed, and during childbirth, that matters.
Sterile gloves, clean cutting tools, cord ties, and basic sanitation materials may seem simple, but they can help reduce the risk of infection for both mother and baby during one of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.

This is why maternal health in rural Uganda is not just about hospitals. It is also about access, preparation, safe birth supplies, and care that can reach remote communities before a crisis becomes even more dangerous.

At Ourganda, the work is focused on practical support for remote Ugandan villages, including medical access, prevention-based care, and resources that help protect mothers, children, and families on the ground.

Something this basic should not determine whether a birth is safe.
Save this to understand why access matters, and follow to see how Ourganda is working to address real needs in remote communities.

Many have reached out with questions after seeing headlines about the Bundibugyo Ebola virus outbreak in Central Africa.

We want to share information and reassure our supporters:

- The current Ebola outbreak is centered in Ituri Province, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)

- Ituri Province is approximately 300 km from Bundibugyo District, Uganda

- Ourganda’s team reports there have been no reported Ebola cases in or near Bundibugyo District, where we serve.

Our staff, medical workers, and the communities we serve remain safe at this time. Our team is vigilant, informed, and taking every precaution to help protect the men, women, and children in our villages.

Please continue praying for everyone directly affected by the Ebola outbreak, for grieving families, and for the healthcare professionals working tirelessly to contain the virus.

Thank you for caring about Ourganda, Bundibugyo District, and the people we serve.

What happens when police cannot reach a remote village quickly?

What if no one steps in?
What if it gets worse?

In remote Ugandan villages, protection often has to look different. Formal systems may be too far away, too delayed, or too difficult to access in the moment help is needed.

That is why the village still needs a response system.

In the villages Ourganda serves, domestic violence is not treated as something to stay hidden behind closed doors. It is met with a local response and a community that understands silence cannot be the only option.

Ourganda helps support the people and systems on the ground that make this kind of response possible for women, children, and families in remote Ugandan communities.

When violence, abandonment, forced marriage, or abuse threatens a family, what happens next matters.

This work helps create a path forward when waiting for help is not enough.

Follow to see what protection and prevention can look like on the ground.

In the villages where abuse was once hidden and unchallenged, it's now confronted- publicly, legally, and consistently. Education. Protection. Counseling. Generational silence is ending.

They said it was impossible to change a culture in 2.5 years. We've proved them wrong. From confronting 2,000+ domestic offenders to 4,000+ girls able to say "I'm safe from sexual abuse," the proof of success is finally all in one place.
