Wellness in Action: Making the most of breaks at work

1. Get moving
If your job requires you to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time, set timers to change your position throughout the day. Adding in movement breaks can go a long way - even one-minute of walking every thirty minutes makes a difference for your cardiovascular health.

2. Look away from screens
You might be tempted to use your phone for entertainment during your lunch break, but spending time engaged with your phone on your break might leave you more tired than before you started. Aim to be completely away from screens during breaktime by choosing other, more replenishing activities like doing a full-body stretch, reading a physical book or meditating.

3. Eat well and regularly
Eating balanced meals regularly will keep your body fueled and your blood sugar steady - an important part of feeling energized throughout the day. Use small breaks throughout the day to make sure you’re nourished and hydrated and don’t skip or work through your mid-shift meal.

STORY: venicefamilyclinic.org/news/stories/pediatric-care-leads-to-whole-family-support/

Six-year-old Angelica Villanueva gravitates toward anything artistic in school, where she is also a diligent and responsible student.

Angelica was born with hearing loss and extra care she received as a toddler doing enrichment lessons with her Venice Family Clinic Early Head Start home visitor helped her develop into the inquisitive, creative student she is today.

But she's not the only member of her family who got life-changing support from Venice Family Clinic.

Visit our website to learn more about how care for Angelica turned into a job for her father and extra support at school for her sister.
