Allergies can sometimes make asthma symptoms worse, but a few everyday habits can help you stay in control:
✔️Know and avoid your personal triggers when possible.
✔️Take your asthma and allergy medications exactly as prescribed.
✔️Keep indoor spaces clean and reduce exposure to dust, pollen, and other triggers.
✔️Follow your asthma action plan and know what to do if symptoms flare.
✔️Talk with your healthcare provider if symptoms are becoming more frequent or harder to control.

This back-to-school season, your child can learn more than just math and history. Swim lessons can serve as both a fun after school activity and an opportunity to learn a valuable, life-saving skill! 🏊️

As there are more school buses out and about, it is important for both drivers and kids to be aware of their surroundings. Drivers should slow down and stop when a school bus is flashing their lights, as kids will be getting off. Before kids get on the bus, make sure that they are not standing too close to the bus because the driver might not be able to see them. When the bus arrives, kids should board one at a time. When getting off the school bus, kids should walk in front of the bus and look before they cross the street.

Triple digit summer temperatures mean kids are at greater risk for heatstroke! As temperatures rise outside, we’re reminding parents and caregivers that the temperature inside a car is even hotter. When a car's internal temperature can rise by 19 degrees in just 10 minutes, it's important to double-check the back seat before leaving your vehicle. This year, there have been 23 hot car deaths with 5 occurring in August alone. Most parents and caregivers believe it could never happen to them, but in most cases, the child is left behind unknowingly.

Morgan County Health Center and The Milk Bank Open Milk Depot and Milk Express

Programs expand access to safe donor breast milk; support infant health and health equity

Versailles, Mo. Open August 5th, 2026 — The Morgan County Health Center has partnered with The Milk Bank to open a Milk Depot and Milk Express site. These programs will expand access to lifesaving pasteurized donor human milk for infants throughout Morgan County.

The Milk Bank and Milk Express are now open to the public at the Morgan County Health Center, located at 104 W. Lafayette Street, Versailles, Missouri 65084.

I am delighted to announce that “We have officially launched our Milk Bank Depot and Express site through The Milk Bank!” This has been a longstanding dream of mine— to provide this essential service to our community. In my interactions with breastfeeding families, conversations about milk donation and the breast milk shortage have come up frequently. Our mission statement—Connecting the Community to Healthy Choices—reflects our dedication to public health by creating a space where mothers can both donate breast milk and purchase donor human milk, enhancing maternal and infant health. I truly hope that this resource will improve breastfeeding support and elevate breastfeeding rates in our community. -Brittany, your Breastfeeding Expert.

The Milk Depot makes it easy for approved milk donors of The Milk Bank to drop off donations of excess frozen breast milk. Donations from approved donors are accepted Monday through Thursday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., and on Fridays between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Milk donors should call ahead of drop-off at 1-573-378-5438 ext 1004. The Milk Express site is a convenient location where parents and caregivers can pick up orders of pasteurized donor human milk from The Milk Bank. Quick access to safe donor milk gives parents peace of mind when it is needed as a medical treatment, to bridge a gap early in postpartum, or to help meet breastfeeding goals.

This is the first Milk Express and Milk Depot to open in Morgan County. “Families in Morgan County now have local access to both a Milk Depot and Milk Express—removing barriers and making it easier than ever for parents to donate life-saving milk and for vulnerable infants to receive it,” said Freedom Kolb, CEO of The Milk Bank. “By bringing both services together in one location, this partnership strengthens our reach across Central Missouri and ensures more babies have access to the nutrition they need to survive and thrive.”
