A few weeks ago, I got a phone call that stopped me in my tracks.

A dear friend of mine had an artery that was nearly 80% blocked.

Eighty percent.

What began as "something doesn't feel quite right" turned into a discovery that could have changed his life forever.

That phone call sent me down a research rabbit hole, and what I found honestly shocked me.

Did you know there is a heart health marker called the Omega-3 Index?

Most people know their cholesterol.

Many know their blood pressure.

Some know their blood sugar.

But almost nobody knows their Omega-3 Index.

Yet research has shown that people with an Omega-3 Index above 8% (my mentor Dr. Cabral recommends aiming for 9%) may have up to a 90% lower risk of sudden cardiac death compared to people with low levels.

Not 10%.

Not 20%.

Ninety percent.

The problem?

The average American is sitting around 4–5%.

That's why I've become so passionate about helping people understand this number.

You don't get the benefit simply by taking a fish oil supplement.

You get the benefit by reaching the 9% level.

That's a very different conversation. I'll teach you how.

In my newest blog post, I share:

💗 The heart health number almost nobody knows

💗 Why I think everyone should know theirs

💗 The research that surprised me

💗 The role of omega-3s, diet, and proteolytic enzymes

💗 What I personally recommend people explore

If you've ever had heart disease, high cholesterol, inflammation, a family history of cardiac issues, or simply want to be proactive with your health, I think you'll find it fascinating.

When “I” Becomes “WE”: Why Community and Relationships Matter for Healing

When we’re struggling with our health, it’s easy to focus on what we need to do next.

The next supplement.

The next lab test.

The next protocol.

The next appointment.

And while those things can absolutely be important, there is another piece of healing that often gets overlooked:

Connection.

Illness has a way of isolating us.

When we’re not feeling well, our world can become smaller. We may have less energy to socialize, less capacity to participate in activities we once enjoyed, and fewer opportunities to connect with others. Sometimes we withdraw because we’re exhausted. Sometimes we withdraw because we don’t feel understood. And sometimes we simply don’t have the energy to explain what we’re experiencing.

Over time, that isolation can become its own burden.

Many people navigating chronic symptoms, health challenges, or difficult seasons find themselves carrying not only physical discomfort but also loneliness, discouragement, and the feeling that they have to figure everything out on their own.

But wellness rarely grows in isolation.

Human beings were created for connection. We are wired for relationship. Research continues to show that supportive relationships can positively influence resilience, emotional well-being, stress levels, and overall quality of life.

While relationships may not remove every challenge, they can help us carry those challenges differently.

Sometimes healing looks like a friend who checks in.

Sometimes it’s someone who listens without trying to fix everything.

Sometimes it’s a support group that reminds you you’re not the only person walking this path.

Sometimes it’s a neighbor who joins you for a walk.

Sometimes it’s simply knowing someone cares.

At El is 4 Life, I often remind clients that healing happens in layers.

Nutrition matters.

Sleep matters.

Movement matters.

Stress regulation matters.

But relationships matter, too.

Having people who encourage us, support us, and remind us there is hope can be an important part of creating an environment where healing feels possible.

Connection doesn’t have to be complicated.

You don’t need dozens of close friendships.

You don’t need a packed social calendar.

Often, one or two safe, supportive relationships can make a meaningful difference.

If you’re looking to create more connection in your life, consider starting with one small step:

• Call a friend instead of texting.

• Attend a local support group.

• Meet someone for coffee.

• Take a walk with a neighbor.

• Volunteer for a cause you care about.

• Join a book club.

• Take a fitness, yoga, or art class.

• Attend community events in your area.

• Schedule a regular family dinner.

• Reach out to someone you’ve lost touch with.

• Join a gardening club.

• Participate in a hobby group.

• Invite someone over for tea.

• Send an encouraging note or card.

• Find an online community centered around a shared interest.

• Spend time with a beloved pet or animals.

• Attend networking or professional groups.

• Join a walking or hiking group.

• Strike up a conversation at a local coffee shop, farmers market, or community event.

• Simply sit with someone and listen.

• Attend laughter yoga.

Small moments of connection can have a bigger impact than we realize.

If you’re in a difficult season right now, let this be your reminder:

You do not have to navigate it alone.

Healing isn’t just about what we take, what we eat, or what we do.

Sometimes healing begins when “I” becomes “WE.”

Because healing happens in layers, but it rarely happens in isolation.

Your body responds to kindness.

And sometimes that kindness comes from the people who walk beside us.

For years, I thought healing was about finding the next missing piece.

The next supplement.

The next protocol.

The next answer.

What I eventually learned is that healing often happens through layers of support. Sometimes that includes nutrition, reducing toxic load, addressing infections, improving sleep, supporting the nervous system, and creating simple daily experiences that help the body feel safe.

In my newest blog, I'm sharing 15 simple "safety signals" that may support healing and recovery.

Because healing is rarely one-dimensional.

A few years ago, I remember thinking:

"Why am I so tired? I'm doing everything right."

I was eating healthy foods. I was taking supplements. I was resting. I was trying my best to take care of myself.

Yet some days it felt like I was running on fumes.

By mid-morning, I needed a nap. I would look at my week and carefully choose which activities I could realistically do because I knew I didn't have the energy for everything. If I overdid it one day, I might pay for it the next.

It was frustrating.

What I didn't understand at the time was that feeling energized isn't always about having more energy.

Sometimes it's about how efficiently your body is able to use the energy it has.

Think about a car that gets excellent gas mileage. It doesn't necessarily have a bigger gas tank. It simply uses its fuel more efficiently.

Our bodies work much the same way.

When the body is getting the support it needs and communication is flowing well, it can often do more with less effort. But when it's dealing with things like nutrient deficiencies, toxins, chronic stress, infections, injuries, or emotional burdens, it may have to work harder just to accomplish the same tasks.

And working harder requires energy.

That realization changed the way I viewed healing.

Instead of asking, "How do I force my body to make more energy?" I started asking, "What might be draining energy that my body could be using elsewhere?"

Over the years, some of the things that have supported me most have included hydrogen-rich water, targeted nutritional support, phototherapy patches, addressing underlying infections, Infoceuticals, spending time in nature, and intentionally surrounding myself with people who feel safe, grounded, and calm.

I've learned that our nervous systems are constantly communicating with one another. Sometimes healing isn't just about what we take—it's also about the environments we create and the people we spend time with.

Sometimes healing isn't about pushing harder.

Sometimes it's about supporting the body, removing obstacles, and creating the conditions for it to function more efficiently.

Healing happens in layers. 💕

What's one thing that has helped your battery recharge lately?

Tip of the Day
If you have a programmable thermostat-- try this...
You want to be warmer during the day, and you want your house to get cooler 1-2 hours before you want to sleep. You can also program it to start to warm up a half hour before you get up in the morning. This is a simple but POWERFUL concept! Use temperature to amplify your circadian rhythm, enhance your energy levels and deepen your sleep!

✨ Every emotion has a role to play. Every emotion carries information. And they effect our health sometimes more than we realize.

It’s natural to experience emotions that bring harmony… and emotions that feel uncomfortable, messy, or overwhelming. Neither makes you good or bad—they make you human.

Emotions are designed to move.

They arise.
They build.
They ask to be felt.
They soften and pass.

Sometimes that happens in seconds. Sometimes minutes. Sometimes much longer.

Where we often struggle isn’t in having emotions—it’s in what happens when they get stuck.

🌿 Repressed — never expressed
🌿 Denied — not allowing ourselves to acknowledge them
🌿 False — convincing ourselves we feel something we don’t
🌿 Dominant — when one emotion overshadows all others
🌿 Grasping — holding tightly and not allowing movement
🌿 Projected — making others responsible for what we feel

Healing doesn’t always mean feeling less.

Sometimes it means becoming safe enough to feel… and allowing emotions to move through rather than live inside us.

Your emotions are not the enemy. They may simply be asking to be heard.

Healing happens in layers. 💛

One of the most powerful things you can do for your health is stop abandoning yourself.

It can feel so natural to put everyone else first, keep the peace, over-give, overextend, and make other people’s needs the priority over your own. But when we do that over and over again, our body begins to learn something painful:

“I can’t trust the person who is supposed to protect me.”

You.

That becomes a quiet little b***y trap in the healing journey. Because safety, trust, and consistency matter deeply to the nervous system.

Choosing yourself is not selfish.
Resting is not selfish.
Having boundaries is not selfish.
Listening to your body is not selfish.

Every time you honor your needs, nourish yourself, speak up for yourself, or give yourself care instead of abandonment, you are teaching your body:
“I am safe with me.”

Choose yourself today.
Trust yourself.
Be loyal to the one person who will walk with you through every single season of your healing journey — you. 🤍
