On World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, we're highlighting the important role hospice and palliative care play in helping patients and families navigate serious illness.

Both hospice and palliative care focus on comfort, quality of life and support, helping patients receive care that aligns with their goals and wishes. Palliative care can begin at diagnosis and alongside treatment. Hospice care is typically chosen when treatment is no longer working or a patient decides to stop curative treatment for a terminal illness, shifting the focus to comfort, quality of life and support for both the patient and their loved ones.

It’s been awhile since I’ve done employee introduction. So I’m gonna try and get back on track.

We’re gonna start with Danielle Buckingham. Danielle is one of our Home Health Aides. She has been with Amedisys for a year and 3 months.

Danielle’s favorite thing about working at Amedisys is the nurses, the employees and most of all her patients she gets to take time with. “Holding their hands as they are passing, is one of the hardest but memorable things for me”

My favorite things is I’m always open to helping someone else in need, my family, God, football/basketball, my fur babies, lakes days ,camping riding out on a back road in the fall time, baking, and being in the kitchen with my husband.

Thank you Danielle for all the hard work and dedication you put into our patients and this team.

Next Employee introduction is Connie. Connie is 1/2 SW (social worker) for Amedisys hospice. She has been with our company for 6 years.

I asked Connie some of her favorite things about working for Amedisys hospice and she said “I love my patients and families. Being able to provide someone support and educate in a difficult time is rewarding. What’s not to love about spending my day with different people listening to their life stories”.

Connie has been married to her husband for almost 13 years. In Connie’s spare time you can find her spending it at sporting events for her kids...baseball,football, basketball.

Thank you Connie for all your hard work and dedication that you do for our staff and patients.

Employee introduction next is Chrissy. Chrissy is our BOS(business office staff) and also our DME (durable medical equipment)QUEEN.

Chrissy has been with Amedisys for a total of 2 years but has been with Amedisys hospice for a year.

I asked Chrissy why hospice? “She said my grandma was my bestfriend and I wish I would have had someone from Amedisys Hospice to take care of her and help us through the grieving process. I picked hospice because of her, making a difference in patients and families lives, feeling comfortable in my work place, helping patients in their most vulnerable state, being a helping hand to our field staff, and working within our community”.

Chrissy has been with her husband for 12 years married for 7. She loves spending time with her little family, nieces and nephews, fishing, camping, and cooking!

Thank you for everything you do for this company Chrissy.

Our next employee introduction will be Camilla Meriwether.

Cami is one out of two CM (clinical managers) here at Amedisys of Vienna. Cami has been working with Amedisys for 6 years, hospice patients for 8, and all together has been a nurse for 13.5 years. I asked Cami what her favorite things about working here and she replied “The one on one holistic care we are able to provide to our patients and families and knowing they are getting THE BEST care from THE BEST team, during one of their most difficult times”.

Cami has been married to her best friend for 13 years. Together that have 2 beautiful kids. I asked Cami what she likes to do outside of work. “I love to spend time with my family. Gardening. Working on my side job. But my favorite thing is to travel and decompress”.
