Today is White Cat Appreciation Day. Never have we appreciated a white cat as much as Falkor, our unofficial emotional support cat. He was recently featured for Holistic Pet Day on Cat Guardians page, and he was my office assistant for a couple of years before we brought him home. He's the most polite cat I have ever met, like his mom he waits for the invitation to connect, but once you call him over he loves attention. He would rather sit next to you than on you, but you can still feel his deep resonant purrs. He will steal a recently vacated chair and he loves to eat, but he's been a marvelous addition to the family. Even Missy's warming up to him.

I've been living with a FIV negative cat for almost a year now. We share some bowls and litter boxes. She's still negative.

The study in the Veterinary Journal shows FIV is difficult to transmit. How many cats' lives have been lost because people believed the opposite?

Ah, the miracle of microchips.This guy started hanging out in my neighborhood over the summer. The nice lady across the street was feeding him because he didn't leave and was rather shy. Meowmy brought the chip scanner home but couldn't find one, probably because he wouldn't stay still. Finally most of the kittens are gone and there was an opening at the shelter. Nice lady took him to the vet and he found the microchip! He had been reported missing a year ago from a suburb many miles away. He was reunited with his original family today. Good mews all around.

So many cats and kittens still need a good home. Missy and I want to see them go somewhere else. Especially Missy, I'm okay with newcomers.

Because every cat needs a home...

I have heard rumors of kittens, but never thought I would get to meet them. Meowmy is running the Meow Motel this last week as they recover from getting fixed. They have been in cages in my old rehab room, but this morning they are out and about. Meowmy said it's good for them to learn what a "house" is after being office cats. I reminded her it isn't that hard.

Ah, so many updates to share with you. But I haven't posted anything about the kids lately. After all, they did get me kicked out of the office and now I get to live with Meowmy full time. Here they are at almost 12 weeks old.
Atlas, Thea, Phoebe and Rhea have their spaying and neutering date on October 7th and will be available for adoption shortly after.
Their mom only comes out for one person, but there's hope for her too.
