Unfortunately due to severe weather forecast the new Salem Festival has been postponed to November 7 and 8…so mark your calendars and we will see you then!

Good evening everyone! Tonight we met as a club and made the difficult decision to postpone the New Salem Mtn Festival from this upcoming weekend to November 7th and 8th due to the incoming severe weather. While we advertise rain or shine we feel this weather causes a safety threat. We understand this may cause issues for some and we do apologize but we take the safety of our vendors, our visitors, and our staff very serious.

As for the vendors we will be reaching out to each of you tomorrow to discuss further information.

We ask that everyone please share this post!! We want to get this message out as much as we can. We hope to see everyone November 7th and 8th!!

Thank you to everyone who came to the Lafayette Farmers Market -GA today to learn from several of your neighbors and friends who have a passion for sharing our hard earned knowledge of plants and how they help us. Your support and interest has sparked a possible plan to continue this growth at our market. Several of us who set up there each Saturday have bonded into a unique family and we welcome you to our family. We only ask that you watch for more opportunities to learn from even more artisans and creators over the coming weeks and bring a friend. Wouldn't it be nice if we had to add more chairs??

I personally want to express gratitude to all my learners. You humbled me with your interest and I quickly saw many of you could have led the class yourself. Your participation warmed my heart.

And thank you to Mackenzie for your wisdom and insight to offer this activity. It added such an exciting nuance to our day. We appreciate you!!

Cardinal flower (Lobelia cardinalis) is a drop-dead gorgeous summer perennial. And it’s native! Native in Georgia, all through the eastern US and more. Lush green leaves are a perfect foil for the deep, red flowers that start at the bottom and bloom for weeks until the top is reached. Hummingbirds love them as do cloudless sulphur and tiger swallowtail butterflies. Naturally found in wet areas and edges, they also do very well in our gardens. They are mostly short-lived perennials, but seeds and offshoots help keep the population going so well you might not even know that some didn’t return.
