đ¨ What is Art Therapy?
Art therapy is a form of counseling that uses creative expressionâlike drawing, painting, collage, or simple hands-on art materialsâto help people explore thoughts and emotions in a different way.
You donât need any art skills or experience. This isnât about making something âgood,â âperfect,â or even "right. Itâs about using creativity as a tool to help you understand yourself and what youâre going through in a safe, supportive space. Sometimes words just do not match the lived experienced, art helps to express it and understand it better for yourself. Then, words usually follow to help others understand you better. đ
⨠What to expect in an art therapy session:
Sessions may include simple art activities guided by a therapist, time to reflect on what you created, and conversation about thoughts, feelings, or experiences that come up. Sometimes we talk while creating, and sometimes the art speaks first. Not everyone approaches the process the same way, so your experience with art therapy may not be the same as someone else'sâthat's the beautiful part!
There is no right or wrong way to do itâyour experience and expression are what matter most.
