One thing I keep coming back to in my Mental Health & Wellness training with Yoga Medicine by Tiffany Cruikshank is this:

Stress does not just affect the mind.
The body keeps score too. DYK? We actually store the energy of trauma in our psoas muscles.

Sometimes stress shows up as:
• jaw clenching
• shallow breathing
• headaches
• digestive issues
• tight hips and shoulders
• chronic fatigue
• trouble sleeping
• muscle tension that never fully lets go
• feeling exhausted but unable to relax

Many people think their body is “working against them,” when in reality, their nervous system has simply been trying to protect them for a very long time.

The body adapts to stress patterns.

Breathing changes.
Posture changes.
Muscles guard.
Sleep shifts.
Stress hormones stay elevated.
Even pain sensitivity can increase.

This is one reason I’m so passionate about approaches that combine movement, breathwork, mindfulness, nervous system regulation, myofascial release, and rest.

Step by step guide to NEVER get healthy

1. Never improve your habits.
2. Ignore every signal your body gives you. Fatigue? Bloating? Anxiety? Totally normal… right?
3. Eat whatever is fastest, most addictive, and most processed. Bonus points if the ingredient list reads like a chemistry experiment.
4. Sleep as little as possible. Scroll late into the night and call it “me time.”
5. Believe health is only about weight and appearance instead of energy, hormones, gut health, mood, and longevity.
6. Sit all day and avoid movement unless it’s absolutely necessary.
7. Stay stressed 24/7 and never regulate your nervous system. Wear burnout like a badge of honor.
8. Depend entirely on quick fixes while ignoring the root cause.
9. Surround yourself with people who normalize feeling terrible.
10. The moment your body starts healing and detox symptoms or discomfort appear, quit immediately because “nothing is working.”
11. Ignore ingredients, toxins, and what you expose your body to daily.
12. Expect lifelong vitality while never consistently nourishing your body, mind, or environment.

Because just like healthy relationships, health doesn’t magically appear — it’s built through consistency, self-awareness, healing, and intentional choices. 💗
