Day 578: Today is world leukemia day. September is also leukemia awareness month. Sometimes I get so caught up in childhood cancer awareness, I forget about leukemia awareness. We shall fight for awareness of both!!

Day 577: Carson’s nurse said his bloodwork results were miraculous!!! After 3 attempts for blood, they were finally able to draw labs. His levels have increased above and beyond where they needed to be. To start back chemo he needed his hemoglobin to be above 7, platelets above 75 and ANC to be above 750. Carson’s body wanted to ease my mind and go big. His hemoglobin is 11, platelets are 104 and his ANC is almost doubled what it needs to be at 1400. 🙌
He starts back on chemo tonight at 50%. His next oncology appointment is on the 17th. It will consist of a spinal tap, with spinal chemo. His labs will be drawn again. Continue the positive vibes that he will have great results and be able to continue chemo.
Carson is home tonight and will get to enjoy an extended weekend at home.

Day 576: Carson had a relaxing day at The Ronald McDonald House. A few students and teachers wore Carson Crew shirts today for the color white day at school. Emily Wilcoxson Sarah Brangers Cierra Potrykus
Carson loved seeing the pictures of his “crew” and it definitely put a smile on my face seeing his supporters. (I have permission from the parents to post the pictures.)
Send all the positive vibes for his count check tomorrow. My boy really wants to be home for the weekend.

Day 575: Carson broke out and is at The Ronald McDonald House. He is feeling great after yesterdays blood transfusion. He will be here till at least Thursday. On Thursday he will go to the clinic and get all his numbers rechecked. If all is good he will be home for the weekend. He received a goodie bag from his friend at school and a couple things from his “crew”. Keep sending those positive vibes!!!!

Day 573: Carson’s counts are still on a roller coaster. A few have gone up and a few have gone down. White blood cells (.76), hemoglobin (8.6), platelets (62) and ANC (0.02). They changed his discharge date from tomorrow to unknown. Please just continue to send positive vibes. I recently found out that I do not qualify for FMLA this year and I’m a nervous wreck on how this is going to play out. I’m going to talk to a social worker tomorrow. Hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst. 😔
