I’ve noticed that when I’m uncomfortable with a decision, I tend to keep looking outside myself.

Another opinion. Another book. Another perspective.

Sometimes that’s wisdom. Sometimes it’s avoiding what I already know.

I’ve spent a lot of time looking for reassurance around decisions I’d already made in my gut.

Turns out, I usually knew. I was just waiting for someone else to agree. I’m getting better at listening sooner.

I’ve been seeing a lot more conversation lately around dysregulated children and nervous system regulation.

And yes, I do think parents regulating themselves matters. Kids absolutely pick up on our energy.

But I also think some parents are carrying a lot of shame because they’ve done the work. They are trying. They are reading the books, staying patient, co-regulating, getting support… and their child is still struggling.

Some kids are not simply “acting out.” Some are truly overwhelmed internally.

Sometimes there are deeper layers:
processing differences
sensory sensitivities
visual processing or vision challenges
anxiety
executive functioning struggles

I think one of the biggest shifts can happen when we stop looking at everything as behavior and start getting curious about what may be going on underneath the surface.

You can be a loving, calm parent and still have a child who struggles with regulation.

This is also why I feel so passionate about nervous system support for both children and parents. Sometimes support that helps the body feel calmer and more regulated can make the hard moments feel a little less overwhelming for everyone involved.

Motherhood has been one of the greatest gifts of my life, but also one of the things that brought the most awareness.

It has a way of showing you areas of yourself that you didn’t even realize still needed healing.

The ways you respond to stress. The pressure you put on yourself. The overstimulation. The guilt. The emotions you thought you had moved past.

It made me slow down and really start paying attention to my nervous system, my body, and the patterns I had been living in for years without realizing it.

Honestly, this work grew from that.

From wanting to understand myself better.
From wanting to feel more calm, present, and regulated instead of constantly stretched thin.

A lot of what I now help others through started within my own motherhood journey first.

Happy Mother’s Day to the moms carrying more than most people see 🤍

It’s so common to get stuck in a certain mindset or way of thinking. Always being a little on edge, never really feeling “good”, constantly tired or just tense.

After a while it becomes your “norm” and you accept it.

Most of the people I work with are doing everything they need to do. They’re showing up, taking care of things, etc.

But in reality, their body hasn’t actually relaxed in a very long time.

If this feels like you, come see me.

You don’t have to have the words for it.
That’s usually where we start anyway.

The other day, my husband asked me a question that caught me off guard.

He said,
“What do you actually do during a Reiki session?”

I’m used to explaining it in more clinical terms. How Reiki helps guide the body out of a fight or flight state and into the parasympathetic nervous system, allowing the body to slow down and begin to heal.

How I act as a conduit, allowing energy to move where it’s needed and supporting areas that feel stuck or heavy.

And all of that is true.

But when he asked me that question, what came out of my mouth surprised even me.

I said,
“I pray.”

Not in a passive way.
Not in a distant way.
But in a deeply focused, intentional way.

I tune into your energy and the intention you came in with.
I help create a space where your body can let go of tension and finally relax.

And alongside that…

Yes, I pray.

I ask for healing, for peace and for clarity.

I imagine you surrounded by light, grounded and supported.
I trust that your body already knows how to heal, and I help create the conditions for that to happen.

Most importantly, I hold space for you to remember something many of us forget:

That you’re not alone, you are supported and you are deeply loved.

That’s what’s happening when you’re on my table.

Come see me if…

* You’re craving balance

* You’re feeling more overwhelmed and tired than not

* Your body can’t seem to relax

* You simply want to feel more like yourself again

One of the biggest things my work with energy and the nervous system has taught me is this:

We are always in each other’s energy.

There’s no such thing as raising kids separate from ourselves.

They feel our pace.
Our pressure.
Our calm.
Our presence.

It’s not always about what we’re doing as parents.

It’s about what they’re experiencing from us…
even when we’re not saying a word.

And this is why I keep coming back to this work.

Just taking care of my own nervous system.
Coming back to myself.

Because they feel that first.

Bear turns 6 months old in a few days and it has me feeling really grateful for him.

Last year we lost our 1.5 year old dog, Murphy, unexpectedly after a bad reaction to an antibiotic. It was sudden and really hard. He was such a big part of our family.

We didn’t wait very long before bringing Bear home, and I remember wondering if it was too soon. But grief is strange and it’s not the same for everyone. For us, bringing another dog into our home ended up being really healing.

Animals have a way of regulating us without even trying. They get you outside, they make you move, they make you laugh, and they pull you back into the present. There’s something really grounding about that.

Bear has brought so much life and joy back into our home, and I’m really grateful we said yes when we did.

There’s something horses understand that we tend to forget.

They don’t always respond to just words.
They respond to energy.

If I’m rushed, distracted, or holding tension in my body, the horse feels it immediately. When I slow down, breathe, and come back into a place of calm, they soften too.

Animals are incredible mirrors for our nervous system.

You can’t pretend to be calm around a horse. They feel what’s real.

So much of the work I do with clients now centers around helping the body reconnect with a sense of safety. When the nervous system begins to settle, everything else starts to shift.

Sometimes the greatest teachers of regulation never say a word.
