A Minnesota Charities Inc disabled vet grant board staffed by prominent and respected local disabled vets will be established. This will allow us to hand out grants to other disabled vets who can really use it. Minnesota Charities Incorporated's two storefront entities have been up and running building the local disabled veteran support system which enabled us to launch our non-profit incorporated status on March 1st, 2015. While still in our infancy a handful of full-time volunteers has managed to produce the following statistics in charitable giving and grants:
1) $1,070 dispersed to disabled veterans in Visa gift cards by the County Veterans Service Officer
2) $2,600 granted to the Disable American Veterans (DAV) Local Chapter Kolstad #23
3) $1,000 in turn dispersed to disabled veterans by the DAV via the County Veterans Service Officer
4) $1,300 worth of turkeys and smoked hams dispersed to disabled veterans over the holidays
5) $750 in medical travel grants released to disabled veterans for long distance medical care
6) $2,165 in Super One food cards and Visa cards for food programs and disadvantaged families and individuals. Recipients include Range Mental Health, AEOA, Cotton Food Shelf, senior citizens and area veterans
7) $450 in sustenance grants for long term Mayo Clinic visits.
8) 232 delivers of food stuffs, average value about $30. $6,960 in value (Thanks, Super One South and local area citizens)
