Meet Storey Cook, one of our co-founders & an incredible LPC! She beams with compassion & anyone that steps into her office gets to experience the grace she extends to the people around her to provide a safe space to walk through hardships. We asked her what her favorite coping strategy was & her response:

“I encourage holistic coping strategies that help regulate thoughts, the nervous system, and the body. Along with mindful grounding techniques, I support clients as they identify their “circle of control” — understanding what’s in their hands, letting go of what isn’t, and taking meaningful action where they can.”🩷🩷

Meet Alyssa Nicholson! One of our other amazing counselors at Hanan Counseling who is a LPC-A & a LCDC-I. She’s loves working with kids & has some great background with kids with special needs. She is also passionate about her work in addictions! She is ready to walk alongside people on their journey to healing! Here are some fun facts about Alyssa:

1. My first counseling related position was helping provide equine-assisted psychotherapy, which fit perfectly with my love of horses! It was awesome to be able to combine my two interests and see the great work that happens when your mind and body are both involved!
2. The first crochet project I ever finished was a sweater, and one arm is about 3 inches longer than the other.

Hanan Counseling is excited to welcome another great girl to the practice! She comes with a wealth of knowledge in multiple different areas & we are so excited to have her on the team. She will be ready to see clients starting next week! Here is a little bit about Alyssa Nicholson:

Alyssa works with adolescents and adults navigating neurodivergence, anxiety, depression, burnout, life transitions, and substance use concerns. She also specializes in working with autistic children and has a passion for supporting parents and caregivers of neurodivergent children.

Believing that the real agent of change is a supportive relationship, Alyssa integrates attachment-based, relational work with all ages. She helps clients understand patterns, build regulation skills, and develop ways of living that feel attainable. Her approach is trauma-informed and emphasizes autonomy, nervous system support, and connection.

Her background in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) informs a strong understanding of behavior, while her current approach moves away from compliance-based models and instead focuses on the underlying “why” behind behavior. With children, she uses play-based approaches to support emotional expression, regulation, and connection, and works closely with parents to reduce meltdowns and improve daily routines. With adolescents and adults, she supports both deeper processing and the development of lasting coping skills.

Alyssa earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas Christian University and holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Sciences from Texas Tech University.

Her style is collaborative, intentional and grounded, with an emphasis on meaningful, lasting change. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, crocheting, gardening, and baking.

Hanan Counseling is excited to have Avery Rademacker join our practice!!

Avery graduated from Purdue Global University in 2021 with a degree in Psychology while serving as an active-duty Mental Health Specialist in the U.S. Army. After transitioning from the military, she earned her Master’s in Counseling from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in 2025. Avery is now pursuing her Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy at Texas Wesleyan University, while continuing to see clients in person and online.

Avery works from an existential and internal family systems perspective with adults, couples, and families. She believes our personal history, family dynamics, and life circumstances shape the roots of who we are, providing the foundation for our lives. Yet, there are parts of ourselves that deserve both transformation and acceptance in order to live authentically. Through working with Avery, together you will find the balance between challenging and embracing yourself, your relationships, and your life. Avery has experience working with veterans and military families, a population she has a passion for working with whom she provides discounted rates for.
