Some days you just gotta go out of your comfort zone… I was scared sh*tless to do this, but since I was with the top one percent of helicopter pilots in the country, I figured, why not? Plus, I got to see my house in a whole new light! Thank you Heather Howley @ Independent Helicopters what a day! And what an amazing way to see the fall foliage. If you want to take a ride too, give her a call, she can totally hook you up.

🚨 So many people get to shot day (often hungry) and just… eat whatever they've got.

And honestly? That’s not their fault.

Nobody hands you a FOOD protocol with your medication.

🍔 What most people don’t realize is that what you eat — and HOW you eat — around poke day can make a HUGE difference in how easy it is to get the nutrition you need all week.

🛟 SAVE this one for your notes.

Because here’s what you NEED to watch out for:

1️⃣ **Waiting too long to eat**

If your appetite is stronger before your next shot, USE IT to your advantage.

Get a real hearty meal in while food still sounds good.

2️⃣ **Starting with the wrong foods**

When appetite is limited, every bite matters.

Lead with protein instead of filling up on foods that don’t give you much back.

3️⃣ **Saving protein for later**

Later may be exactly when your appetite disappears.

Don’t assume you’ll “make it up” at dinner. Eat some at EVERY meal.

4️⃣ **Forgetting hydration and fiber**

When people eat less, they often drink less and get less fiber too.

Then they wonder why they don’t feel their best, are groggy and sluggish.

And that’s just **shot day**.

Because once you realize there’s a smarter way to eat around the natural ups and downs of your appetite, it opens up a much bigger question:

💡 **What else should I be doing differently with food now that I’m on a GLP-1?**

The answer? It's a matter of changing perspective and having fun with food. Here you'll understand:

🍽️ How to make smaller portions actually satisfying- and tailored to YOU.

⚡ How much protein you realistically need — without living on shakes or bars

🥗 How to build meals when you’re barely hungry

😋 How to keep food freaking DELICIOUS when you’re eating less of it

🧠 How to stop following every conflicting diet rule you’ve ever heard

⛔ Most people are LONG into the medication before they realize:

It totally changed their appetite…

…but nobody taught them how to actually eat with it to get the best results. And **hint** it doesn't involve a diet. Far from it.

The good news is you do NOT have to keep guessing or wait.

✅ This is the only chef created, food-first way to figure out what you need and actually get it in without macros, spreadsheets or boring food.

👇 THIS IS IMPORTANT…

If it feels harder than it has to be, this may be EXACTLY why.

🛟 **SAVE this Cheat Sheet**

Most people are so focused on the medication that they completely miss what they’re doing with FOOD on shot day- the most important day of the week.

And yes — it matters.

Here’s what to avoid:

🛑 **Skipping breakfast**

If your appetite is coming back before your next shot, USE IT to your advantage.

Don’t waste the window.

🛑 **Eating too little**

This is not the day to “be good” by barely eating.

Get real, nourishing food in while eating feels easier.

🛑 **Ignoring protein**

Protein gets harder when your appetite drops.

Take advantage of the days when food feels good.

🛑 **Forgetting hydration**

It is ridiculously easy to eat less AND drink less on a GLP-1.

Stay ahead of it. Your skin, muscles and brain will thank you.

🛑 **Neglecting fiber**

Protein gets all the attention.

Your body still needs fiber too.

⚠️ **And here’s what most people don’t realize:**

Shot day isn’t just about the poke.

It’s an OPPORTUNITY.

Your appetite changes throughout the week.

Learning how to work WITH those changes instead of fighting them can make this whole thing so much easier.

🔥 Eat when your appetite is stronger.

🔥 Prioritize protein when it feels easier.

🔥 Hydrate before it becomes an afterthought.

🔥 Build meals around foods you actually WANT to eat (we can help with that!)

Because the medication can change your appetite.

But you still have to know what to DO with the appetite you have.

💡 You don’t need more diet rules. In fact, I throw them all out the window. Yup. Really.

🗝️ You need a simpler way to eat GREAT, feel good and stop second-guessing yourself.

Small bites should be full of BIG flavor! When your appetite is MEH, delight it with things that taste really good. This recipe is easy, family friendly and quick to make. (PS- this dish is equally as fabulous with chicken or pork too!)

Ingredients:
nonstick cooking spray or 1 T neutral vegetable oil

24 ounces lean steak tips (1” pieces)

pinch Stacey Hawkins Dash of Desperation Seasoning (or a combo of garlic, parsley, salt, pepper, onion)

½ C beef stock

1 Tablespoon Stacey Hawkins Truffle and Black Garlic Parmesan Seasoning (or a tablespoon of truffle oil and freshly grated Parmesan cheese)

1 fresh asparagus, after trimming

1- 6 ounce pkg button mushrooms, sliced

Directions:

Prepare ingredients by cutting the steak into 1” chunks, trimming the asparagus, and slicing the mushrooms.

Spray a cast iron pan with oil (preferable) nonstick cooking spray and place over high heat.

When hot, add the steak tips and season with Dash of Desperation Seasoning.

Sauté beef in the pan for 3-4 minutes until a nice crust appears. Remove the beef from the pan, set aside and cover to keep warm.

Place the cast iron pan back on the stove and add the beef stock. Using a wooden spoon, scrape the bits off the bottom of the pan.

Add the asparagus and mushrooms and cook on high until the liquid is reduced to half and the asparagus is crisp-tender.

Add the beef back to the pan, season with the Truffle & Black Garlic Parmesan seasoning. Stir to combine, cook 1 additional minute to heat the beef and serve hot.

Travel has a funny way of showing you the world… and then holding up a mirror.

Jason and I have been adventuring through Denmark, saying yes to new places, new people, new roads, and yes, even pickled herring.

Was the herring my bliss? Absolutely not. 😂
But the adventure? The openness? The willingness to go somewhere unfamiliar and see what happens?

That’s the good stuff.

Not everyone wants the same kind of life. Some people find joy close to home. Some of us find it on a ferry, in a rental car, on a windy coastline, or at a table full of strangers.

The point isn’t to live like anyone else.

The point is to know what makes you feel alive… and follow it.

So this week, ask yourself:

Where am I craving more joy, more adventure, more possibility?

Then take one step toward it.

Follow your bliss, my friend. The doors have a funny way of opening once you do.

When you’re on a GLP-1, small bites matter. In fact, they matter MORE.

Dining at Frederikshøj in Denmark reminded me that a little bite can deliver a whole lot of pleasure when it’s packed with flavor.

Because when your appetite is tiny and nothing sounds good, whatever you finally choose to eat had darn well better taste good!

Enjoying your food still matters. Smaller portions shouldn’t mean smaller standards.

Packing for vacation on a GLP-1 ✈️🇩🇰🇸🇪

And can we talk about the BEST part of packing this time?

Everything fits. 🙌

No trying on 14 outfits. No “maybe if I don’t breathe…” pants. No panic-buying something at the last minute because nothing in my closet feels good.

I actually had FUN packing.

And now? I’m heading to Denmark and Sweden to take us ALL on a serious foodie adventure—and I have absolutely ZERO intention of spending it worrying about every bite I eat.

Amazing restaurants. Local specialties. Bakeries. W**e. Coffee. CHEESE!!! Whatever looks delicious. I’m here for it.

Because being on a GLP-1 doesn’t mean food stops being one of the great pleasures of life.

I’ve packed smart, got my meds and brought a little support from home to help me feel my best along the way—but I’m not packing diet rules, guilt or a suitcase full of “safe foods.”

Smaller appetite. Smaller portions. NOT smaller standards.

Over the next several days, I’m taking you along with me to show you what traveling, eating and enjoying the heck out of food can actually look like on a GLP-1.

Because THIS is the part nobody talks about enough.

You lost the weight so you could go live your life.

So let’s go live it. ❤️

Follow along—this foodie adventure is about to begin.
