When I feel tired balancing work, life, and workouts… I remind myself that education is still a privilege for many women around the world.

Only about 10% of women globally hold a master’s degree, and women still make up less than 40% of physicians in the U.S.
workforce. Keep showing up. Keep growing. 🤍
nd on days there’s no time for the gym — home workouts still count. Keep showing up. 🤍

What if your metabolism is affecting your mental health more than you think🍀

Emerging data continues to show a strong connection between chronic medical illness, metabolic health, and mental health outcomes — highlighting the importance of integrating metabolic therapies into mental health optimization.

Listening to Christopher Palmer can truly shift the way we understand mental health and chronic illness. His work explores the connection between metabolism, brain function, and psychiatric conditions in a way that challenges conventional thinking.
Traditional mental health treatment often overlooks the metabolic component of psychiatric illness.

Four metabolic therapies that can improve not just weight… but mental health too.

Not a new medication.
Not a new device.

Just the fundamentals—often overlooked.

• Nutrition
• Physical activity
• Sleep & circadian rhythm
• Stress management

My patients already know these matter…
but underutilization is extremely common.

Because the real challenge isn’t awareness—
it’s implementation, especially when energy, mood, and motivation are already low.

That’s where structured, physician-guided metabolic care makes the difference.

✨ Small steps. Done consistently.
✨ Real impact—both mentally and physically.

Sometimes treating the mind means treating the metabolism too.
As a psychiatrist, I chose to go deeper—because true healing is connected. ✨

Today I’m answering one of the most common questions I get:
What else can be done for anxiety besides medication?

I answer this question as—
with all my training, years of presentations, and treating complex mental illnesses for over two decades,
I see the treatment of anxiety (and mental health conditions) evolving with the addition of metabolic therapies.

Sometimes, even psychiatrists could feel anxious before they begin 🤗
It’s not a flaw—it’s human- find how to overcome it??

✨ Metabolic therapies matter:
nutrition literacy, physical activity, and lifestyle changes can significantly improve anxiety.

Let’s also continue to overcome the stigma around mental illness—
healing is more than just medication🍀

As a metabolic psychiatrist, I rarely come across books that truly reflect what we see in real clinical practice—
📘 Weightless is one of them.

Brilliantly written by Rocio Salas-Whalen, it captures the complexity of weight, hormones, and metabolism in a way that is both scientific and practical.

Highly recommended for both patients and clinicians.

Tip 1)
Your hormones need stable blood sugar.

Add:
• Eggs
• Greek yogurt
• Nuts
• Beans

This helps reduce cravings and energy crashes during the fast.

Tip 2)
Hormonal shifts make women more sensitive to dehydration.

Between Iftar and Suhoor:
✔ drink water regularly
✔ limit caffeine
✔ avoid sugary drinks

Tip 3)
Late nights + fasting can worsen:
• Anxiety
• Food cravings
• Hormonal stress

Even 6–7 hours of sleep can help stabilize mood and metabolism.
